I just did a search and found nothing on this topic. My uncle recently bought a 2000 vert a couple of months before I got my 98 coup. He joined the local Corvette club almost immediately as this is his fourth or fifth Vette but he hasn't owned one in several years. After talking with his club members he came to reason the first mod he needed was some kind of reinforcements for the rear end because he was told it has a tendency to sag... is this true? I've never seen it mentioned here for the month I've been a member...
Are you talking about body sag or rear suspension sag?
I had a 2000 coupe and now a 2004 Z06 and have never heard of the rear end sagging. Nor do I recall anyone on the forum mentioning that.

I'm talking about body sag. His explaination was with the mufflers back there and how the rear end is connected it can get hot and start to sag or even come apart. He bought and installed something to prevent this
Yes, this is/was an issue with the C5's, at least this was the rumor.
A number of vendors (Mid America, Ecklers, etc.) offer a solution. It is a plastic insert that fits in the area immediately above the slots at the rear of the vehicle. They 'snap' in, and should be covered with a layer of silicone to insure they stay in place.
If he is paranoid about this possibility, they are inexpensive (if I recall they were less than $40).

several of the vendors sell stiffiners for the rear brake duct area that wil realign them to the proper place..bunch of folks have them.. they'll chime in
If one is given to driving enthusiastically for an extended period of time then the rear slots will deform due to the heat from the back box on the exhausts.
There is a rumour that I may have been open to accusations of such conduct and there is visual evidence.
Yes they can 'sag' although mine have sort of folded into the middle of the slots a tad.
