Default Is this a fair price for an 01 QS Z06 w/ 25K miles?

I just checked out the car and it's pretty clean exterior and interior. Bone stock car except for B&M shifter. He dropped the price down to $30K from $31K and is very firm on that. Tires look like they need to be replaced within a few months, but everything else looks good and taken care of. This car is in Northern California so prices for vettes are higher generally, but is this a fair price for a clean 01 QS z06 w/ 25k miles and no warranty?

Not a bad price, I would try to get him a grand lower because you will need new tires soon.

I tried....maybe not hard enough, but he's not budging at $30K. I might just take it at that price cause my 98 coupe is gonna be gone tomorrow.

And another question for everyone that knows....

If I report to DMV a lower sell price then the $30K (like around $25K and if seller agrees to it), does that mean I would have to pay less sales taxes(8.25%)? Any repercussions for the buyer and/or the seller?

Thanks. -Don

As for the taxes... no repercusions that I know of. When I bought my jetski and trailor for $2600 we put down $1000 for the ski and $200 for the trailer on the titles. I'd say the price is only good if the car has been re-ringed. If it hasn't been re-ringed or isn't under warranty then I wouldn't buy it.

Good idea, have that checked before you buy it. I believe that approximately the first 10,000 2001 C5's had the oil consumption problem. Maybe someone can verify this. Make sure that the owner had this taken care of if it is an early '01. Otherwise if it's a clean car with no damage and no previous accidents, then $29-$30K seems fair at this time of the year IMHO.

No... all of them have the exact same rings which is the problem. If driven hard they'll suck oil. It's the rings and the PCV seal. The previous owner of mine babied the car and noticed no consumption. After I got my hands on the car I started to beat on her and do Auto-x's, HPDE's, drag racing, and general hard high RPM driving. Like magic the rear bumper got black and the oil started to dissapear. Post re-ring the car is perfect.

Do you know if any of the early '02's had this problem? My car is not an early '02 and has never used a drop of oil but just curious.

The 2002's all got the updated ring package and new teflon coated pistons ( to prevent any slap at cold startup ). If an '02+ car is using oil it's caused by a bad PCV seal.

I looked at the same zo6 your talking about. San Mateo right? Yea he wouldn't go less than 30k with me either. I told him the best i could do is 29k but he wouldn't do it. Pretty clean car except for the pretty bald tires. Btw that B&M shifter had a really short throw. Just thought i'd let you know that i checked out the car.

Yup,same car. Hahaha...small world. It's a clean car,but those bald tires will cost a pretty penny to replace very soon. He should drop the price a tad given that fact if he wants to sell faster.

No worries....I just promised someone in Seattle to buy a clean 01 QS Z06 with even less miles at 11K and WITH extended warranty for $31K. Very very good deal. Gonna fly up Friday and drive back down this weekend! Should be fun! Thanks everyone! I promise you all that in a few months, you will see a wicked looking Z06. Mods are planned already. -Don
