Supercharger question

to street racing, all do it more than they like to admit. i think most of the guys with the high performance/supercharged cars do race on the street. also adding mods such as supercharger, or heads/cam brings a "WOW" factor to the car. its a good question. and when you really think about it, we mod our cars to go faster. not everyone here races at the track, so where are we going faster?! i try to hit the track maybe once a month, but the added power to the car usually comes in handy on the streets!

Its not how fast it goes, it how fast it gets there.

Cool factor, sound, plus great torque. Also the fact of being able to white smoke the tires in any gear at will is a great feeling.
The biggest thing you have to learn is WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT RESPONSIBLITY.
People can and will abuse anything with or without a SC.

I have a Talon TSi with a few mods on it, I really enjoy driving the car, the turbo and BOV make it that much more fun to drive, and it's not even all that fast.
<edit> But don't get me wrong, i did it for the performance, i go to the track and the drag strip, and occasionally run it on empty roads.

As I said I like to play from 0-fast(100) ,but I can do that stock. I guess if I was into the racing thing and had a spare $10,000 or so I would do it also, but to me that is a LOT of money .
1> Acceleration, Acceleration, Acceleration
2> Knowing that you can be the perfect model citizen, cruise at 20mph and still be able to smoke anything that comes your way
3> PermaGrin(TM)
Now - you do not have to add a blower to do these 3 things.
For number 1 - if you swap in 4.11:1 gears and a high stall TC (if you have a A4), you have a stoplight killer in the making. Add a very loud exhaust, headers, wild lumpy cam and intake and you will *sound* like 800rwhp, even if you are not.
For number 2 - you need to look towards a 427 big block, twin turbos, etc. Now you're into astronomical money, I mean obscene amounts of loot, a truly profane amount of cash. Only then can you rest on your laurels and think "I'm making over 1000bhp at the flywheel - no one can touch me - if I could just get it to hook!!"
And for number 3? Just buy a stock C5 and drive it like you stole it.
Nothing but grins.

P.S. I have a ATI Procharger because I never grew up

Just what I hear

I forgot the guys name... do you recall that??????
I'm an owner of SIRI and am up over 55% in the last two weeks...I can smell that addition of a S/C and heads/cam package in the next couple of months if this pace continues

I like my vert for the car and the fact that you or I can drive them like we want to.My first point was if you had that kind of money to spend on looks, it must be nice .When you are retired like myself most of us can't do it.

You said "I like the show car part" - so it's OK if someone drops say - $3500 on wheels and tires, and say - $6000 on custom paint, or underhood chrome or whatever - but NOT OK if I spend say - $8000 on performance modifications?
In the same way that you would not buy a supercharger, I would NEVER buy chrome wheels. Everybody's different, that's what makes owning a Vette so much fun.
My supercharger is a centrifugal type and not polished - so it looks more like a big air conditioning unit than a chrome Roots supercharger that some do install for show (and go). But don't get me wrong - they look truly awesome - and very
In my Corvette Club, they like my car because it is all black with zero bling, it is loud and it goes extremely fast. Everyone else in the club, with a few exceptions, is retired (I'm 41) or just quietly enjoying their Corvettes. Many have more than one generation Vette. But we still have a lot in common - we all love and obsess over our Corvettes.
Isn't that the essense of Corvette ownership? Why does it matter if I want to travel at warp speed and you wish to cruise at low speed?
What should matter is that we absolutely adore our cars.
Different strokes for different strokes. That's what makes the world interesting.
Show does it for you.
Go does it for me.
