Default Questions about the C5

Are there any differences between '02 corvettes? (ex: Gearing, suspension, exc.)

Does anyone know what the RWHP is for a '02 C5?

What are the corvette's weak points? (ex: The rear-end in F-bodies)

BETWEEN 02 Corvettes? You mean like does a convertible have a different rear end from a coupe?

HP in a 2002 was 350.

Weak points are leaks in the differential, wind noise from the windows, column lock, fuel guage. Those are general Corvette problems not specific to the 2002. Someone else will have to answer that one.

Jack pretty much summed it up as to the problem areas on ALL C5's.

I believe the automatics came with 2.73's or 3.15's and i believe on the 6 speed cars you had an option between the 3.15 and the 3.42.

That link speaks only of 2.73 and 3.42, is my understanding above wrong?

Most people are just too PICKY about their cars and don't look at the big picture.

Fact is that GM got the C5 right pretty much from the beginning. Yes there are some soft spots but they are fixable. I would not let any keep you from making a decision to get one.

I too had an F-body ('94 Trans Am GT) which I had NO problems with. I raced SCCA and even the drag-stip on occasions, put 84K on it and only replaced the water pump in all that time. I don't think that even they were a real issue.

I hope you enjoy!!

What's already been said above I think cover the main concerns or problem areas.

one other thing I think is important to point out in terms of differences is the rear end's ... if you get an Automatic there are 2 possible gear options.. 273 and 315..I think you can pick which one would be better

the code for this (in the glove box) is G92= you have the 315 gear

all 6 speeds (manual) came standard with a 342 rear end.

Three models: Coupe, Convertible, and Z06.

For the best guide to the differences, check out Corvette Black Book 1953-2004 by Mike Antonick.

My 2002 Coupe with MN6 transmission put out 307.5 rwhp and 325.9 rwtq (correction factor: 1.03 SAE) at 500 miles, completely stock on a Dynojet.

That's exactly right. However, the question posed (as I understood it) was the differences between different models, not between different option groups. In other words, would a convertible have the same suspension as an FRC or would a coupe and an FRC have the same rear-end.

At least that was the way I understood the question.

Incidentally, to my knowledge there is no difference between similarly equipped cars of different body styles (excepting the Z06 of course).
