Stereo Buttons half brightness
At night with the headlights on and the dash lights on, the radio buttons are only about 1/2 as bright as the AC buttons. When I dim the interior lights, the radio stays about 1/2 the brightness as the AC controls. Is this normal? Will someone check at night and see if the radio and AC control buttons are the same brightness?
Thanks,
Jeff
There was a post earlier that suggested the dimmer itself may be to blame for Radio and/or AC unit light problems. To try to validate this you could cycle the dimmer switch all the way up and down a few times (this may clean the conacts), then see if they are responding properly.

Well, I tried turning the dimmer switch up and down a bunch of times and it made no diff. I did notice tho, that when I was turning it down fast, the dash and AC went down to low light levels fast, but the radio took it's time dimming. Like it was on a delay dimmmm. Guess I'm gonna have to make a list and take it in. That bothers me
It's a new car, only 4 months old with 2900 miles.

They should dim at the same level.
When you turn the headlights on all of the instrument panel lights should dim at an equal level.
Sounds as if you are possibly in need of a new headlight switch.
maybe the radio and ac panel are not supposed to light up equal. I think I'll call a couple of dealers today and see what they say.
Jeff
They should light up equal. They do in every other C5 I have ever been in, except mine.
Mine did not light up hardly at all(ac unit). Like maybe 15%. So I bought a "new" one on ebay for $ 75. A lot less than $ 400 that GM wanted. Had the chevy dealer put it in for $ 85 and the new one lights up about 60% so I figured I'll just leave it. At least I can read it now. Mine is a 98 vert. If you said yours is almost new they should fix it under warranty.
