If I am traveling I usually go 10-15 over. I like to find someone going about that speed then I let them get a couple hundred yards ahead of me and I tail them and keep a sharp look out, with radar detector on. If I am just relaxing I usually go the speed limit.
68 in a 70 is considered a traffic roadblock around here. Those people waving? That's only *1* finger
Dope
I used to hate when people in nice cars slowed down traffic, so I generally stick with the 5-10 over crowd. Not the fastest on the road, but not slowing traffic either.
There are two Vettes that I see on an almost daily basis, a red C5 on the way to work and a yellow C5 (and a late 60's Ferrari) on the way home. All 3 of them are ALWAYS in the right lane and all 3 wave back every time I wave to them. Oh... and not that it matters... but the Ferrari driver is a very cute version of the fairer sex!
I always, occasionally, sometimes, maybe, perhaps, once in a while do the speed limit.
Not me...
Heck, I've been known to drive a truck with a loaded trailer at 90...it really depends on how the traffic is moving and what feels safe. The only time I usually outpace traffic is on cross country trips, where I typically average 80mph with a radar...it makes a big difference when travelling 2000+ miles.
Note, I do speed in my Corvette, but when/where I do speed, there is rarely traffic to guage my speed against.
There are a few long connecting ramps that go between the hills where I live. I drive "responsibly" on the main interstates, but when I hit those spots where "I think" one can see me, I punch it up to a 100+ if there's no one else on the road.
There's no fun in having a Vette if you don't take it into triple digits every once in a while.

I live in Michigan too but when I get on the highway I'm gone. I let people see what the vette can do. Its kinda pointless to have a sports car and drive it like a station wagon.
I know an older guy who told his daughter that I was trouble and that I ragged on my car because I drove it fast. He also owns a C5 but drives it slow like an old person. So I told his daughter I drive my car how it was made to be driven...its a sports car. Your dad shouldn't own one.
I honestly have trouble keeping my below 80. If I didn't have HUD, I'd get pulled over all the time (thank you, V1). The thing just wants to cruise at 2k rpm and get 30mpg.

1. I want to have your drive home.
2. Pics of the Ferrari (are you sure it's real?).
3. Pics of the girl in the Ferrari (are they real?).
9mph over speed limit or with flow of traffic which can be much more. I will let the crazy drug dealers and nutbags fly by as they do without hesitation.
Get the Valentine 1 and a Laser Jammer and you'll be set. I'm working on the Laser Jammer because I just got 2 tickets but neither of the tickets were in my C5. I was driving a Chevy 2500 both times. Go figure. I've been pulled over probley about 5 times in the last 2 years in my car and everytime the cops let me go with a warning.

That's a load of crap! He has every right to own a Vette. Plus, he's right about you being trouble, because that's where you your headed with your attitude.

wasn't there just a thread last week about a fatal crash involving a vette, he was going to fast lost control and ate it...in fact, I think it was in Michigan too
I'm no angel, I'll go 5-7 over , or with the flow of traffic. I don't need to let people see what the vette can do...I'll go to the track for that.
Your right I am trouble he wasn't wrong about that. He is my dads friend so he knows us well. My point is don't complain about me driving my car fast because you are scared to.
If you want to drive slow then go ahead thats your choice.
I'm not saying I drive fast all the time just 99.9% of the time.

I don't speed because I have anything to prove...I drive with the flow of traffic. Occassionally I'm faster, occasionally I'm slower (not usually).
It's much safer to "go with the flow" rather than impede it.

There was one in Portland Oregon, the driver was killed. Family man, had 2 kids and wife, just out for a night on the town with a friend who survived. This might be the one you're thinking of, it was on FOX news on the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
While I like to do as most of you, 5-10mph over the limit, I'm leaving the high speed stuff out this year. One year we had a race from the Xmas party, we hit 150mph + more on I80, ran for 8 miles, just having some fun. The conditions were right, but if anything had gone wrong I like to save that for the track, I can really get into it there.
Too many wrecks in my neighborhood lately. Please take it easy during the holidays!
