Default Heated Seats???

Has anyone added the after market heated seat kit to their C5? The wife wants heat...and I would love to hear if and how well they work first. Thanks!! Steve

I have not put them in my C5 but I have put them in other vechicles. The kits I have used were from Katskinz. They worked great...worth every penny.

I have heated seats in my MY '00 Coupe. I just bought the car a few weeks ago and the guy I bought the car from added them. They work pretty well; but personally I would never have added them cuz I'm not big on those kind of extra's (luxury type stuff - I'm 24 so as you can imagine all I care about is looks and speed). If I were you I'd throw that money for heated seats on something better like performance mods...but that's just me.

Installed the seat heaters from PFYC http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.m...ory_Code=VTINT in my 02 vert. Love warm seats on a cold day cruising with the top down

Where did y'all mount the switches? I've seen them on the console near the shifter, but what about on the seat itself or somewhere else that looks more OE?

My switches are on the sides of the center console (looks like you just cut out a small hole and pop 'em in there).

There was a member up in Canada that posted about adding heated seats to his car - had pics and instructions. Sorry, I don't have the link. Maybe someone can help out here. If I recall right, he did get the kit from pfyc.

How ironic, Terry & I were just talking about stocking them in the store, now that the weather has gone cold. There is an automotive & marine upholstery shop two doors down from us in our complex and was over there talking to Bob about installations. He said 'no problem'. As a matter of fact, he is the one that did the subdermal installation for us on powderski13's (that is you isn't it Randy?) C5 last winter. Hell it was so cold last Monday (for California) that I'm putting them in my new dually, as it is a bit too long to fit in the garage, and those seats get cooooold.

My Expedition has heated and cooled front seats. Makes that leather really nice in the Summer months (and on chilly winter nights).

not enough room for cooled Vette seats, but heated has been done

maybe someone has that link( i remember it too)

Here is an install done by Jacob on the forum. Yes he is from BC and a member of the BC Corvette Club like i am

**************************************** *********

With our weather turning colder, I thought it was time to add heated seats to the Z06. This shows the wiring setup. The heating elements are installed under the seat and back covers.

Wiring started with a 10 guage supply circuit (red) from the battery to the main supply relay for the seat heaters. This relay is triggered by the ignition switch (yellow accessory wire under the passenger foot panel).

Overall view:

Each seat has a harness and relay installed on the floor under the seat. The harness connects to the heater elements for the seat and the back. From the relay and under the tunnel carpet, you run the power supply and on/off switch wiring, terminated with connectors. These connectors have wiring which runs to the main power supply relay and the on/off switches.

Right side view showing under seat relay and harness:

Right side view showing tunnel connectors for power and switch:

The hi/lo/off switches are mounted in the console panel beside the shifter. (the traction control sw panel was not used because there is no room inside; it contains a circuit board which occupies most of the space inside).

Underside view of console panel showing switches and harnesses:

Top view showing finished product:

There's nothing like a hot car and a warm butt.

The pictures shown above are the ones I'd seen before. I have seen a couple of good write ups about them. I've got a switch on the side of the console on the drivers side. It's an on / off rocker style. I presume it is for a heated seat but have not confirmed. I don't think it is hooked up and don't see a power drop when I switch it on. When I have time for the Vette - it's time to drive.
