Valentine One - easy to install, program, etc?
On that note, I just picked up a V1 (after getting a ticket for "exceeding the state maximum"...woops). Are they hard to install? Is there any programming? Or are they just plug & play? Thanks for any tips.

although i hard wired mine in and ran the cord under the a-pillar and the headliner so i don't have to have a cord hanging down to the lighter.
funny thing too. i picked mine up after my first speeding ticket. shouldn't have waited and would've saved myself that 110 dollars.

I hardwired mine into the fuse block on the passengers side footwell, ran the cord up the pillar and use the supplied suctioncup mount right next to the mirror.
Nothing could be easier (well except figuring out which combination of +/- in the rearview that took a few more mins....).

After you get comfortable with it, you might hardwire it in and reprogram it to suit your needs. As others here have done, I hardwired mine so I won't have wires dangling. I also setup a custom program specific to my needs, tolerances, and local area. All this done, and the V1 is invaluable.

I decided on the visor mount from Great Lakes Trophies and will hard-wire it this week.

will read the manual later....

does your v1 always stay "on" if you leave the cigarette lighter adapter in and the v1 connected to it? i'd say yes, since that's what it appears to do. i just pulled the adapter out when i leave the car parked overnight or during the day at work, figuring the current will always flow if it's plugged in. is this a right assumption?
I believe you are correct that is why most people go with the hardwire to the mirror or to the fuse box so when power is off the V1 is off. You will eventually get tired of pulling the plug and the way the plug looks draped across your dash then you will look for alternatives.
I went the same route as you and then I got tired of pulling the cord and looking at it in the middle of the dash so I put mine under the rear view and hardwired it into the mirror one afternoon (didn't take too long at all). I like it there because it is really out of my view except for some hard right hand banks going down a hill (I realized this last weekend when I was with the Northeast Forum members playing at Bear Mountain, NY). Other than that it is a great location because you can easily hit the mute button and you can easily see it.
Seriously, on K and KA band the past couple of days, it spotted a radar box about 1/4 mile ahead, just over a little rise/hill. Unbelievable.
When it picks up laser, does it pick up an assumed scattered spread (due to operator jiggling the equipment), or is it the moment before you get popped?
For those of you who hardwire it, do you take it out of the car when you get out?
I shoulda got this thing years ago....

I love my V-1, and I love having it automatically switched on/off with the ignition.

With the visor clip mount from great lakes you would have to get pretty low or be a midget to see it.
Also on the phone cord posted above... The red and green "Crossover" form one end to the other so be careful plugging it in when you hardwire it...
