Default C5 Z06

Ever notice how the majority of Corvette vendors, tuners, and information resources on the 'net perpetuate the false concept that a Z06 is not a C5 (either unintentionally or intentionally)?

Example: Who hasn't heard or read the quote, "Now available for your C5 and Z06!"

I've brought this subject up, because I've started to notice posts from newer members that seem to indicate that they believe the Z06 and C5 are two different Corvettes. If you read it all the time and don't know the facts or history, you might believe it as well.

The reality is that they're all C5s... Coupe, Convertible, Hardtop, and Z06.

It's okay to distinguish the Z06 from the rest for those applicable products, but let's not globally promote this idea that it's not part of the family.

p.s. Sooner rather than later, the guilty parties are going to have to distinguish between the "C5 Z06" and "C6 Z06".

I've noticed this too. I think most of us know what is meant, but you're right, the Z06 is a C5 just like the coupe and Vert.

As a ZO6 owner I always thought that the vendors were just playing on the pride that "some" Z'ers have in the extra power and relative exclusivity that comes with the car. I never got the impression that folks thought that it wasn't part of the great C5 family. For example, there are C5 themed Corvette hats, jackets etc AND ZO6 versions of these same items. There aren't however coupe jackets, hats or vert versions. I think it's just a reaction to the maket. Just my .02

I think the Z06 owners like to keep them separate to a degree... and the tuners/vendors are just playing along with that... deep down inside... we all know they are made on the same production line..

I disagree to a point - yes the Z06 is an important part of the C5 family, but I think the "Z" is a separate model, not just a body style like a coupe or convertible. The "Z" has a specific engine, suspension, exhaust, tires, etc., but most of all - separate badging. It's a very special C5, but a separate model. JMHO, of course! Oh, and BTW - I own a convertible, not a "Z"!

The Z06 is a special version of a C5, that's they way I think of it (I'm a non Z06 owner). The vendors/tuners etc... speak of it they way they do for marketing purposes, I think this also saves time and lots of potential questions from customers....if they just advertised something as for the C5,....Z06 folks would be wondering maybe ,,well I have a Z06..is it compatable?? since theyre..cam/heads tires etc etc,,,are different than a regular C5

The problem is people call a "coupe" a "C5". I never get why they do that either. They are all C5's, ones a Coupe and ones a Z06.

the z06 is a c5?

.. yeh, some people just dont get it.

C5 = Generation.
Z06 = Model of Generation.
Convert = Best Model of Generation.

Chad954RR .. your picture makes me want to go out and clean my car.

I always saw it as making the point that the advertised part works on the Z06 also. I never read it with the thought that people thought it was a different car.

Are you feeling a little slighted?

Camaro SS
Camaro Z28

Camaro 6 cyl (although a lot less camaro, but still camaro nonetheless)

they are all Camaro's

Hey there all corvettes right, who cares which model it is. Eat, sleep and drive a corvette, what more could one possibly ask for! Life is great.
