Default two tone interiors...

I got thinking.
I was looking at the wood grain dash kits and thought... too bad they don't make these colored (like Torch Red)
then WHAM! what's to stop me from getting a kit, sanding it up and using a GM interior paint to get it the color I want?

Nothing to stop you. Several members here have posted stories about doing the same thing to their cars. Recently there was a blue interior shown and I know there have been more.

I've found some sites that offer colored dash kits- but they are just "red" or "Carbon Fiber Red" and not "Torch Red" wonder how close the color actualy is?

it looks like you just painted the panels. not quite what I'm talking about.

here's what I think about:
take this:

then rough it up a little bit and spray paint it Torch red (or whatever your interior color of choice is)
wouldn't be as "bright" as having entire panels colored, and the black surround would still be able to contrast with it.

1c5z06,

Where/how did you get all that done? What did it cost you?

So let me get this straight...you want to buy cheap wood grain overlays, then sand them down and paint them? How would this be different than painting the originals, except that you wouldn't have the cheap plastic overlays?
