I have also posted a WTB in the parts section, but so far no luck.
I Hava an '02 A4 coupe, and I am looking for a set of the six etched chrome caps for the engine tanks, reservoirs, etc.
I know that Design Specialties is out of business. I know that "Performance Design Specialties" is supposed to be providing these, but I have tried to get them to get them for me for 3-4 months, and have not been successful. I just don't think they are "up to speed" yet.
Anyway, I am trying to get ready to show in March, and time is running short.
Does anyone know of an individual or a vendor who might have these available. I am also interested in other show quality chrome pieces for under the hood.
ive been tryin chuck for some time also. i have all the caps except for the washer fluid resevior cap. i got in touch with him shortly after carlisle and have called him about 2x/month. my question is why is he going to shows and showing his products if he cant supply them? i really need this cap to complete my set and at this time it doesnt look like im going to get it.
I don't know anything about PDS, or what your order situation is...but I do know the plater they use is always way backlogged and slow deleveries seem to be the norm from them. The quality is outstanding though and it's worth waiting for.
I was lucky enough to get one of the last sets of caps Aaron had before he closed up shop. In fact, I had to live w/o the PS cap because it was the only one he was totally out of.
I hope PDS is making these again so I can get that last cap some day.
I know of no other vendor that makes anything that even comes close to the quality and design of these etched caps.

I know the chrome plating company that they use, so that is not the problem. The problem is that the "etching" of the chrome is done after the chroming is done. It is really not a very complicated process, kind of like sandblasting. The tool is also not very complicated. The problem is that you have to have the various "templates" for the wording on the caps. Some other chrome provider definitely needs to jump on this "void" in the market and start providing this product!

Anybody listening?
Tom: Check with the companys in your area that etch pens, plaques, watchs and other stuff. The good ones should have a laser etching machine large enough for the job. Larger trophy shops might have the hardware also.
No template is needed because it's controled by PC. Just pick a font.
Let me know it it works.

Good idea, Ken, but I want the covers to have the identical look of the OEM covers, only etched. Would and engraver be able to "scan" the image from the stock covers?
