Welcome to the forum and good luck finding the car of you dreams,I hope you put alot of thought into whether or not to get BSM(body side moldings).I personally think that it looks like a strip down model or chevys version of a work truck(IMO)I have them, gonna keep em and don't like cars with out them, just my $.02
Mine is a daily driver and I do NOT have BSMs and don't like them. I didn't let it influence the search for a car and the buying decision, knowing that I could easily remove them. To me they look like an afterthought stick on, which is exactly what they are. However, I must add that I do understand WHY they were invented, and understand that some owners prefer to enjoy the marginal protection they offer. Heck, some even LIKE the way they look..... I think Chevrolet calls those folks potential C6 buyers. [Please just laugh, this is not intended to throw fuel on the potential flames, There are Corvettes for all of us!] If you don't like the strips and the car you find has them, buy the car anyway, and make up your mind later about the protection VS looks ratio. PS, Welcome to the Forum. I joined up before finding my C5 too!
I agree with CAJUNY2KC5 and jaxgator. These are easily removed with either fishing string used to "saw" through the adhesive holding them on, or by heating this adhesive up with a heat gun or hair dryer and pulling the BSMs off. Regardless of which technique you use to remove them, finish by using 3M adhesive remover to take off the remaining adhesive from the paint. Its that simple...so don't let the BSM's stop you from buying the vette you would otherwise want. Goodluck
Wow so thats how you do it... I thought that if removed maybe there had to be painting but wow thats really good then.
