Anyone with an A4 had this happen?
A dreaded pink fluid spot appeared on my garage floor.
I'm taking it in for service this a.m. and have it checked as I don't want to diaper my baby.
Not alot yeasterday, just about 1/2 a teaspoon full, then one drop on a sheet of white paper this a.m.
Can't tell exactly where its coming from, but it appears to be the pan gasket. (loaned out my jackstands)
My neighbor is a mechanic and he said that sometimes with the Hot/Cold of winter, been running 19 degrees here in Ohio, that the A4 pan has to be retorqued.
Anyone ever had the same problem?
Appreciate it.
Jim, you can retorque the pan yourself easily. Tighten the transmission oil pan bolts alternately and evenly to 97 lb. in. (11 N·m). While you're under there, you'll probably be able to locate the source of the leak.
Morning Patches,
Best of the season to you.
I loaned out my jackstands or you know where I'd be this afternoon. Hope that's all it is. If not I've got 4 1/2 years left on a 5 yr 50k extended.
I'm in for an oil change today anyway and the dealer I take it to lets me do what I want under it while I'm there. (In fact he has no other choice or he'd never see a $ of my business again.)
One of their new Service Managers told me one time that their insurance would not let me back in the shop. I told him my insurance covered me and told the kid putting it up on the lift to bring it down. He changed his tune quick.
The mechanic that works on Vettes for them, he's my age (old) just hands me a wrench sooooooooooo!
I'll keep you posted as to what I find.
Best to you and yours.
Transmission fluid is a myth. Set upon us by the big auto companies so that they can extract more money from your pocket.
I choose not to use transmission fluid, and my C5 has run fine for 5 months.
That'll show em.

I had the same thing. Put it on a rack, thought it was the pan leaking. Tightened the bolts, next day still leaking, back on the rack for a closer look, turns out to be the shaft seal (left) from differiential. Funny thing is it quit leaking....

You better check the fluid level 'cause if it stopped it might be EMPTY.

This may be a long shot but a friend of mine had a very unusuall transmission leak.He is on another fourm. Please e:mail me for more information because i dont know all the rules here. Basicly the output shaft had an extra hole in it that cause the leak.
Good Luck & Happyl Hollidays for everyone in this fourm.

I looked at your profile and noticed you have a '99.
This may be a silly question, as I'm no expert mechanic, but are you sure you're not seeing Dexcool leaking from the water pump?
