Just last night I was out driving for no reason and decided to practice some panic lane changes. I was doing 70 (cruise control on) and was in Comp. driving mode. I made about 4 extreme lane changes and the Active Handling never even engaged!
Last Saturday I was headed to Milwaukee doing about 85 in my Silverado. An aluminum ladder, at least a 10 footer, flies off of a truck in front of me. I did the bob, brake, bob thing and missed it. Watchin the rear view the next 3 people missed then #4 ran right over it. In a Vette a small maneuver. In a 4x4 at that speed, YIKES! Edit: I live just down the highway from a Menards (like Home Depot) and idiots are always losing loads of 2x4s, siding, fertilizer, roofing, you name it!

Handling under emergency...
It's good to give thought ocassionally to being really aware of cars next to you or in your blind spot.
A few years ago after I had just done my suspension (T1 bars, wide wheels/tires, ZO6 springs, Bilsteins) I was always looking for situations to practice my 1/8 second lane changes.
I almost put a guy who was in my blind spot into the ditch. I didn't hit him-he recovered nicely, but I was terribly embarassed and realized just how fast and really devastating it good be to miss the coke bottle but take out the next lane!
