I've owned 3 C4s and 2 C5s and can totally agree with SilverBullit02! The C4 is very old tech compared to the C5.

I have to agree with the majority. I recently sold my '95 C4 vert and bought a '98 C5 vert. I loved my C4 but if I had to do it again, I would have skipped the C4 and jumped right into the C5.

All the quirks and annoying faults the C4 has are gone on the C5. The C5 is simply a more refined version of the C4.

You'll love either since they're both Corvettes.... good luck in your decision.

Since you asked and I have owned 2 C4's (a 95 coupe and a 96 vert) followed by a 99 coupe and now a 03 Z06 I can with great certainty say "YES". I know many current C4 owners will disagree with me, but that's my opinion after owning two of each. And to be honest the 96 vert was as pristine as they come.

But you have to live with your choice so choose wisely grasshopper.

I’ve never owned a C4 but my son-in-law did. I’m 6’3” 62 years old and a bad back and I could not even get in his C4. My C5 I can fall in it and have no problems getting out!
The one thing I did like about the C4 compared to the C5 is working on the engine. I did some work on his and was sitting on the tire. I don’t plan on working on mine but if I did it looks like it would be a real pain and I mean pain! Remember, bad back?

I've have both..had a 99 coupe now have a 95 convertible. I like the 95 vert much much more and it wasn't because of price differences I actually sold my 99 and paid more for the 95.

reasons to buy c4 over c5:

If you want a WEEKEND car for fun..thats what vettes are for getcha a tahoe if you want more room...

has more vette features like rear gas lid (where it's supposed to be on vettes), smaller like all other vettes, has that VETTE look that when you see it even someone who don't know vettes good know IT'S A VETTE
has nearly the technology the c5's do..95-96 cars do anyway

turning radius is better than c5

LATE LT1 cars performance wise is about the same with the 97-00 c5's and the LT4s will actually beat 97-00's and the lt5 will blow them outta the water. Get a z06 if you weren't pleased with a late lt1 or lt4 performance wise.

sleeker look

larger tires stock

way better seats, the sport seats are so nice and the bolsters adjust to sqeeze you so if you do that and cinch in you're not moving!

headlights ROLL over

clamshell HOOD..love this feature!

in the 6sp's the trans is much smoother than a c5's 6sp IMO

reasons to buy a c5:

if you're big over VERY TALL and need the room

want more of a daily driver

HUD

incase you travel in your vette, a trunk

I'm lost when people bring up technology..what does a c5 have over my 95 in this dept? not much. I have ASR, all kinds of gauges that give instand MPG, avg MPG, digital/analog volt meter, digital temp gauge, digital/analog, good sound system, low tire warning...bascially ever gauge I have it in both digital and analog so by saying technology you must mean something besides things like that...

I think both c4 and c5 are great cars but you can't compare a something like a 87 or so to a 2004 you need to think atleast 93 and reall 95-96 to compare to the c5 then whichever you choose you will love it because both are awesome. I know this post is one sided towards c4's but thats just my honest OP jsut as you shared to I wasn't bashin the c5 just perfer the c4 over it.

PS: my stock 95 vert a4 3.07's has a best of 13.2 in the 1/4 and my 99 coupe did a best of 13.4 in the 1/4..the trap on the 99 was only a tad higher

This just about says it all. I've had my C5 for a whole week now. My C4 is out in the garage waiting for a new owner. I REALLY wouldn't want to go from a C5 to a C4!
