Red/Clear Euros.....harness question
I got the euros installed, but when i tried to plug in the harness, just the clear part would light up for the brakes and the turn signals.... So I just plugged the original harness in and tucked the other one out of sight.....
Not sure what the deal is? I got these from another forum member used, but i thought they were supposed to be "Plug and Play" ??? I asked the seller about it, and he said he had the same issue and was told to cut some wires.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Y'all and Happy Holidays!

Coming off the brake pedal switch you'll see a connector with 3 (I think) wires coming out of it. You need to cut the white one. Just snip it and put a pc of tape over the cut ends to insure they don't touch enything.
This seperates the turn signals from the brake light circuit. Remember the stock lights used the same light bulbs for both functions, now you have seperate bulbs for each function. This is why cutting the wire is necessary. If you ever remove the euro lights in the future, simply splice the white wire back together. It's not a big deal.
You the man.... I thought I was chit out of luck for a minute...LOL.
Lookin' forward to seein' the pic.
Thanks bro,

P.S. Very nice vette..... I-forged evolutions, right?

Here's a good page with all the instructions:
http://www.sunsetvette.com/mods_euros3.html
Concerning the under dash part:
To keep all 8 bulbs from flashing when you press the brakes, you have to cut a wire under the dash. My instructions that came with the kit showed a picture of which wire, but did not provide good instructions for how to get to that wire. I hope to do better.
If you slide under the dash, this is what you see...

To pull this panel off, you need to pull near the two gray circular tabs. Those are simple plugs that go up into the dash. There is no real easy way to do this... there is not a lot of room to work, but I found that a slow, steady pull was enough to pull down this panel. Note that I did not remove the tabs from the panel, instead I pulled the entire panel down. The gray plugs stayed attached.
Step 14. Find the wire
In my car (2001 model) there was a metal clip near the gas pedal that kept the panel from becoming completely detached. That was fine, as there was enough room to work without that.
o finish this install, you need to find the white wire. There are three wires leading off of the connector near the brake pedal, as shown below.

Step 15. Take a Deep Breath and Cut the White Wire
I'm gonna get under there and start cuttin'....LOL. Let ya know how it goes.... hopefully I won't be startin' another thread 'bout cuttin' the wrong wires....

), folow the brake pedal up, the connector and 3 wires will be plainly obvious.

....the pics that came with mine were confusing and cutting the wrong wire was my greatest fear ...ended up being no problem thanks to other forum member responses

I hooked up the harness and NOW i have a problem?!?!?!?!?!
The clear bulbs work as turn signals and as the HAZARD LIGHTS?!?!?! Is that normal? THE PROBLEM NOW IS THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS DON'T WORK?????!?!?!?!?!?!
So, I hook the old harness back up and the red is used as turn signals and as the hazard lights, but NO BRAKE LIGHTS!!?!?!?!?!?! The third brake light (middle) works , but nothing else.....
I knew this seemed too damn easy.....
Any thoughts? Is my harness wired incorrectly? Is there something else that I am missing?

The hazards work fine? Yes, they should flash all 4 clear lenses.
The brake lights don't work. Have you checked the fuses? When you had the harness hooked up before and hadn't yet cut the wire, you were crossing circuit paths when testing the brakes and turn signals. This could well have taken out a fuse.
If that proves out not to be the case, start from square one....reconnect the white wire, remove the new harness. Then see if brake lights work (they should).
If they do, I'm thinking there is an issue with the harness you received. Based on the fact you said the seller had the same issues...that worries me.
If the brakelights still don't work after reverting everything back to stock..I'd start looking very closely at the original wire connector under the car and/or a grounding point near there...basicially, anything that could have become disturbed during the new harness install.
For now, check the fuses first and report back.

The turn signals work fine, and the hazards, just no brake lights at all..... I can check the fuses
Do you have any idea what fuse it is? I'm sure the manual will have it listed.....
Can you PM me your number? My car is at the house and I had to drive back to the office w/ the girls car to get on line....( i keep all work at work)
The previous owner never cut his white wire...... he just kept the the lens on for looks....
thanks again all

I already cut the white wire and my chit is all fcuked up..... I put the original harness back on and I SPLICED THE WHITE WIRE BACK TOGETHER!!!! This was an impossible job since #1 i didn't have the right tools #2 no room #3 frustrated that the lights don't work right!!!!
I checked the fuses, they looked fine and I even switched the 6 and 8 fuses and that did not work. I put the old harness on and spliced the white wire back together until I can find a new harness.....
Does anyone know of a vendor that stocks these? I feel uncomfortable splicing a wire that controls the brake lights.....
thanks for all the responses and info!!!!
