Default Z06 Air Filter.

The Zip-Tie approach makes a lot of sense but does not appear to look that great especially with the stock white filters. Has anyone bored a series of holes through out the entire front of the cover (1/2 dia. or even bigger) and then add the K&N filters. It seems that this would look great (if done carefully) and increase air flow significantly. Can the factory (cover only) be purchased seperately from GM? This way you can retain your original cover for service appointments.
Thank You.

Eckler's part # 37053 modified factory air filter cover. Way too much money in my opinion, but an easy mod. If you look at the picture in there catalog you can copy it exactly.

Thank You, That's even better than going through putting a bunch of holes in a stock cover. I believe Ekler cover along with a K&N replacement filter will be the answere, which is maximum flow and hopefully a 5-10 HP gain without throwing codes. Apparently from what have been reading on the forum the 2004 Z06's tend to throw codes with the some of the after market intakes systems. Thanks again !
