I need to remove all the carpet in the rear of a C5 coupe, what is the best way to get it out and do I have to remove any of the plastic panels? Thanks!
Not difficult at all really. It's been awhile since I did my insulation mod but I rememeber starting with the rear vertical panels and working my way around. Most of it just lifts out. I believe the targa top retainers just slide back to come off. Here's all the manual has to say and a pic from the parts manual.
1) Remove the covers from the right, left, and center rear floor stowage compartments.
2) Remove the latch striker retainers from the cover of the center compartment by sliding the retainers toward the rear of the vehicle.
3) Remove the forward stowage brackets from the roof lift-off panel by rotating the brackets 90 degrees clockwise.
4) Remove the carpet retainers for the bracket by prying the retainers up.
5) Pull the carpet from under the speaker grilles, and from under the rear corner carpet trim panels.
for the front, just pull the rocker trims up towards you, pull out the seats etc. remove the dead pedal and the stop behind the gas pedal...it's pretty simple once you get started, just take your time.....
When I did the Dynamat extreme installation, the carpet in the rear came out very easily as above.
For some unknown reason, the plastic block behind the accelerator pedal I could not get off. So I just lifted up as much as possible and slipped in the dynamat.
