Purchased 01 Z06
My son's friend just got back from Iraq in one piece. He just purchased a 01 Z06 at one of the so called open to the public dealer auctions. I have not seen the car but it has 45,000 miles and he paid $26,000. Of course he has no idea about the car. My son told me I was the cause of the purchase because he had saw mine and knew he had to have a Z06 no matter what. He is all excited and I don't want to discourage him except tell him to be very careful until he gets more familiar with all of it's power. He is in the process of getting it insured. I still can't figure out how the dealer gave him the car without some insurance card except he did pay cash for the car. Hopefully he did not get a water damaged car because it is a Florida car. Still have not forgotten the four hurricanes that came through this year and all the damages that occurred.

I'd suggest you offer some help, namely a CARFAX and try and hunt down the former owner(s) and dealer service history. Then give the car a good going over. $26K seems fair assuming the car hasn't been abused or flooded/salvaged/wrecked etc and has a clean title.
Any mechanical or cosmetic deficiencies can be rectified usually better than the 01 OEM parts/pieces.
Make sure he's introduced to the CF too.
