there are shift kits available for the C5 A4... btu it's kinda old tech nowdays. You can accomplish the same with a handheld reprogrammer... with greater flexibility. I myself use a Predator programmer to run a "street" program - then at the track I change it to somethign more radical. Then before leaving the track - I reprog with my street program.

I used the TransGo Shift kit on my A4 and the Predator for fine tuning.
It IS a lot of fun - chirp the tires in any gear, hold any gear as long as you want (redline permitting obviously) - it's $120 for the shift kit, and I took the opportunity to change the tranny oil and filter while I was in there. Took 2 hours to install with most of that time spent getting the car in the air (as usual)
I do not think it is "old school" but then I'm an old f@rt that likes to do things in a certain way. I am not going to gainsay other members - but it worked beautifully for me.
