Default HVAC Display

Have any of you had problems with your HVAC display? Mine does not come on (hasn't worked since I bought the car and didn't know it should until recently). Could this just be a simple fuse problem?
Thanks,
Bill

These are known to fail. The typical failure mode is the display gets dimmer and dimmer - and finally goes out. The fix, sadly, is to replace the entire module - at least in my case.

Good luck.

you'll need to replace the unit. you can find a used one in the neighborhood of $150. make sure it comes from a 2001 or newer model. i've heard the units from these models are less likely to have the problem of dimming display. try gene at karshop or brad's corvettes. good luck.

Just out of curiosity, try playing with your instrument panel dimmer switch to see if it affects your HVAC display. Someone here recently posted that doing so brought his display back to full brightness.

Failing that, I agree with the above suggestions of replacing the unit with a good used one.

Mine's a 2001 and I can barely see my display. Some days its brighter than others. I believe I was quoted ~$333 for a new one from one of the local dealer (part only).

Not had a problem with mine, thankfully. You may need to get a new unit - try contacting Gene at the KarShop. They specialize in used parts for the Vettes and normally have very good prices on them.

I had a battery problem recently (dealer ran the battery down and did not give a fresh charge...don't ask why) Recently, I've noticed the same issue. When I turn the instrument panel dimmer control all the way up, it helps, but does not go completely bright. It seems that after 15 or 20 min., it rights itself. I will keep an eye on it, though.
