Turned the car on....0 psi...turned it off...then tried again...0 psi...called the flat bed and watched my baby be taken away to the dealer...
The car was only on for 10 sec...at the most with no oil pressure..
Any insight as to what happened...still waiting on the dealers word..
Ken
When that happened to my '99 it turned out to be a stuck oil pressure relief valve in the oil pump itself. It was a documented problem back then but I thought they have upgraded the stock POS oil pumps they used so it may be something else. I don't think 10 seconds runnning should hurt your engine as mine survived much more than that and is still running strong. Good luck
Well it turned out to be the pump itself....they replaced it and all is well.....
i searched the board and this is the first time i have ever heard of the pump going bad....
What goes into an oil pump replacement?
It's a lot of labor. The pump sits down low in front of the engine so the steering rack, radiator, etc has to be moved or removed to get to it. The oil pressure relief valve I told you about is in the pump itself so I bet that was it. Just be glad you're still in warranty for that work!
Let us know if they scratched things under the hood. I have yet to see warranty work that didn't screw things up under there. I guess they think most people don't look or care but, I certainly do. If I bring them a new car, I expect a new car back.
