After plugging in the tender to my C5, the solid red light comes on and stays on NO MATTER how long I leave it on. Even 24 hours! If I unplug the cord and instantly plug it in again the light instantly goes to a solid green! I am afraid to leave it plugged in with the red light on all the time ! Suggestions?
If you cannot get it to work and decide to buy a new one, don't spend $60. I bought mine new off of ebay for about $15 and a couple bucks for shipping. You can also pick them up at Wal-mart or AutoZone for $25 or $30. Sorry, but I have no idea how to fix one.

Sounds like a problem with the tender. If new, return it and get an exchange or refund. If old, I'd recommend a Sears DieHard Battery maintainer. About $30 at a Sears store near you.

on a side note, why do some people take the battery out of car, doesn't that mess up computer? I have mine hooked up to a trickle charger with battery in car, it charged for first night and has been on green light since. It has been put away for about a month now. I was just standing in garage looking at cover for 10min. It's going to be a long winter.
I am a new forum member. I bought my 2004 corvette in January of 2004. I have a battery tender on my car and it is positioned beside the battery. Number one I was told they only put out about 1 1/2 volts so it should not hurt the battery. I also noticed if I open the hood to check if it is charging, and the under hood light comes on, the red light on the batery tender will come on. If I open the hood just slightly, and the hood light is off, the battery tender light stays off.
I was also told, due to the fact they only put out 1 1/2 volts, if your battery is down it could take days for it to come up to full charge.

According to the instructions, the Battery Tender Plus charges at a rate of approximately 1 Amp Hour per hour. The instructions go on to say, "Some Large Automotive Type batteries may take up to three days or more to fully charge."
