Since i am kind of new in the streets of America and i am just learning the habits and the manners in the road here in the U.S,
i need an advice from you guys....:
I consider Corvette owners kind of brothers and sisters,so
when i cruise with my Baby and i see another Vette coming from the opposit direction i always wave and sometime i flash with the high lights...
now the question is this:
When i "Pass" another Vette and i just want to say "Hi" i normally push the "Emergency" lights for a sec. or two....is this ok?or Wrong???
Because i never had a sign of aknowledgment
Is there another way that i should use instead?
Thanks....
I flashed my lights at another C5 today, to say hello and by coincidence of course there was a radar trap just over the hill in their direction. In the Peoples' Republic of Virginia, it's unlawful to know if our public servants are aiming radar beams at your car. I do what I can to "remind" people to slow down.
I usually provide the wave or a quick honk and head nod of acknowledgement. As these guys have pointed out a cop catching the flash may not approve. And if you are passing or wanting to pass a non-Vette, the high beam flash only seems to irritate people. Unfortunately many people in the US do not realize that the left lane is to pass and the right to cruise. You'll alway run into that person in the left lane doing 45-50 on a 65 limit highway.

yes that's true but why do you think they make emergancy lanes; for those types of situations where drastic measures are needed.
...no officer, i was only using the emergancy lane for a quick second, you see those cars just wouldn't get out of my way.

Flashing and waving are fine, but hitting the emergency lights after passing another car is not likely to get a good result. Street racers use it to signify that the person viewing the taillights has lost, and the race is over. At best, you will be ignored or receive a one-finger acknowledgement.
I noticed chicks in So Cal don't like to wave that much, maybe there just too stuck up, don't know. I really wish they would just flash me, their lights I mean, no no the other lights Heres a wave from So Cal
You can do this if you like, but here in the states:
Flashing headlights usually means "cop ahead slow down".
Emergency flashers means hazzard ahead, watch out for me something is wrong, or you lost! Americans very rarely use them for a stau, they just hit the brakes.
Americans don't know to get out of the left lane when they see flashing headlights or left turn signal. Wish we would train our drivers with at least the equivilent of farhschule.
Some people purposely block the lanes to slow traffic, thinking they are traffic control. Try not to get steamed and be VERY careful trying to pass. Some will swerve at you. It should be legal to shoot them, but sadly it is not.
