Default how low can i go?

how long exactly can i go without cutting any bushings and on stock bolts? I dont want to cut any bushings. Another thing...do i have to wait to align the car once it settles or can do the adjusting of the bolts to lower it and immediately take it to get it aligned?

You'll probably get about 1" or so with out cutting bushings. I tried just lowering on stock bolts without cutting any bushings, but that didn't make much of a difference to me. The next week I was in the garage cutting the front bushing and adding 8" bolts in the rear. Some people get a little scared about cutting the bushing, but hundreds here on the forum have done it and I've yet to actually speak with any one who was unsatisfied. As far as the alignment goes, you should put at least 100 miles on it before you spend the money to have it aligned. It has a habit of taking a little driving to settle. Good luck!

I lowered mine on stock bolts as far as it would go and my car still looks like a 4x4 - and it's been "settling" for 3 weeks now and several hundred miles.

So I'm going to cut the bushings and install 8inch bolts in the rear and bring that puppy d-o-w-n.

And if it is still too high - then I'm following CF member ALLKAR and installing coilovers. His car is so low that ants have to duck to get under it

Actually, (and I hope Evil Twin chimes in) your car will continue to settle even after you've lowered it on stock bolts without cutting the bushings. You'll initially get about an inch, then as time goes by and the suspension continues to settle - your car will go lower.

Agian, I think ET has had his lowered this way probably longer than most and it looks sweet after a few years.

Does the ride quality suffer after lowering? Have always thought stock was too high.

I wish I could slam my FRC. My drive way rises 4' from the street to the garage.

Question, whay cut the bushings in the front, can the be un-bolted instead?

Here is my five year old car lowered on stock bolts with no bushing cut...the suspension is perfect. I also jack up all four corners every week or so to detail the tires wheels and wheel wells.. this expands and contracts the suspension to its fullest.. this may be the reason I have such a dramatic drop.

Yours looks sweet twin, but the 19's help to take up that wheel well space also. You won't get that look with the stock wheels.

It's not a EG original (sadly) - another CF member described ALLKAR's ride this way and I nearly had an accident while reading it - so I cribbed it!!!

EG

Here are ALLKAR's rides - used without permission <ALLKAR just holler and I will remove it!!!>

I'd also like to know how the ride quality changes when lowering just on stock bolts/no cutting? How's it like on rough roads with minor potholes?

Thats interesting because wheels have nothing to do with it.. The diameter of the tire is the same as stock with the 30 /35 aspect ratio compared to the 40 and 45.

It's a little bit rougher but not excessive. It is only noticable for the first few days, and then as the car settles (or you become accostoned to it) it just feel "right". The car sticks like glue to corners and feels "tighter" and more in control.

The only quibble I have is the back steps out if you hit a bump midway through a corner. It did that before lowering, but now it is more exaggerated.

All in all, a simple mods that reaps many benefits.
