Leno Cuts Up 2 C5's
Anyone see the show RIDES last night. Jay leno was having a Toronado custom made. He was converting it from front wheel drive to rear wheel drive. He cut up 2 C5's to complete the project. He said the hardest part of the project was keeping the Corvette guys from finding out what he did to the Corvettes.

He did the same thing to restore a 55 Buick Roadmaster. I like Jay, he is pretty down to earth for a multi millionaire.

How about a Toronado with 1000HP
Couldn't help but love the perma-grin he had on his face while he was driving the car
BTW, was the James Hall on the show the Jim Hall from Halltech Eng?

Didn't recall him cutting up C5, but was impressed with the "secret" Corvette twin turbo engine.. 1000HP. Must have been something to drive.

The engine was a proto-type 425 twin turbo from GM Performance Parts. 1000 hp

I saw him say that and thought it was funny... at least he knows how dedicated Corvette guys are too their vehicles. I don't think he could say this if he cut anything else up

I wonder if GM would give me a prototype motor for one of my projects? Must be rough to be the King...

The engine was a prototype 425 crate motor; Jay added the twin turbo.

My favorite quote was "should put out over 1000 HP, not bad for a small block!!" I love it... Toronado was wicked when finished.

I saw that last night, could not believe it. But he did say they were trashed anyway so he kind of saved them, like an organ donor???

He owns the fiberglass Tigershark body kit that was offered to me by Wheel to Wheel many years ago. So, I feel we have something in common...LOL Great collection.
