Well,
I tried to avoid a second trip to the dealer by asking them on Monday of this week to order me a boot kit for the right rear. After searching the boards I felt 99% confident that is the problem. They had the right rear apart twice (recall and shock) and I knew there was ample opportunity for the boot to get pinched.
Sure enough, tech finds slit in boot ( saw it too) and the guy I had asked to order the part for me ordered a seal not the boot kit. That figures. Gotta go back now and the tech says he wouldn't drive it unless absolutely necessary.
I'd almost rather go to the dentist than go to the dealer just because of the hassle.
Maybe I'm just impatient when it comes to the vette.
I know what you mean. When I first got my car I knew it had a stereo problem. But of course it turned out that I had to prove it to them by putting a few CD's together so that it wouldn't work. Then they tried to put a reconditioned unit in the car. I told them I bought a new car not a used car. They ordered the new unit. I feel your pain. Good luck with it keep us posted. Merry Christmas.
Thanks, guys. I was just venting. I am lucky the dealer is only 20 minutes away and they are nice. They told me it would take a week to get the part in and with the tech telling to keep the driving to a minimum, i asked if they could overnight the part. Well...they don't promise..yada...yada...yada. I say OK just thought I'd ask. On the wau home I called another parts department and asked if the boot kit could be overnighted and he said sure can. I called my dealer back and said overnight thank you very much. Of course, I realize it is Christmas and I don't expect it to be in tomorrow in time for them to call me down. I am planning on next week anyway. Merry Christmas to you all, too.
