Well we got our first ice storm of the season, and as usual, there are cars strewn all over the median of I-40...... So here's a few good rules to go by......
1. If you're too scared to drive in icy road conditions....STAY TF HOME!
2. If you're too scared, but must drive, take the back roads and stay
TF off the interstates and major hwy's...!!!
3. If you're too scared, and insist on driving on the interstate or Hwy's
STAY TF OUT OF THE LEFT LANE!!!!
That is all....thankyou for letting me rant a little.....

Living in an area accustomed to snow and ice, this is probably the worst adivice.
The interstates are almost always the best maintained roads, and will be the safest bet for travel. They are always the first priority to get cleaned and salted.
The back roads are often left as-is for a long time after conditions deteriorate...and if you do run off the road, it might be awhile before someone finds you. Not a good choice at all.

Lets not forget about the Black Ice.....No not black guys....black ice......
Black Ice took me and my dd out of commission this past February. Granted it gave me the ride of my life......but the Black Ice is deadly.!!!!!!!!!!!
Drive safely and still drive like you stole it!!!!!!
it's the news media hyping this stuff up....you hear how bad it's gonna be and people start panicing...even up here in maine.... they have ..stormcenter... its a big production on the news every time we get 3"..... wtf.... it's maine... it snows and it gets friggin cold....
Had snow in the DFW area yesterday. Roads were a mess yesterday afternoon. Since the Vette is my daily driver I drove it in this morning. I stay on the City Streets and stay off the highways due to the idiots who drive 4X4 and think they can still run 80.
Anyone who rides a (motor-driven) two-wheeler can vouch that black ice is a one-way ticket to the ditch -- and it's invisible. The trick is knowing where it's likely to form, like in shaded areas, or places that were shaded and recently saw the sun, etc.
Columbus is the world's largest glazed doughnut this morning. The ice isn't hiding today . . . it's freakin' everywhere.
Broke two ankles 15 years apart by falling on black ice in my own driveway in Boston. That's one reason I moved to GA....plus I get to drive the Corvette all year long.......
