I shorten my stock shifter. It took all of 15min and thats counting gathering all the tools. What a simple mod. I took the **** off, cut the shaft off 1", notched the slot about 1/4", put the **** back on! I haven't driven it yet but the shifts are shorter. Too easy! I also had my 1st problem yesterday. The windshield wiper won't stay down in the off position. The wipers work just won't stay down. The dealer says wiper gear cam pin/spring is broken or something like that. He ordered a new one and it will be here monday. My Ford friends are giving me a hard time about it. It's funny because they all want a vette. Next mod is to lower it. What color do you guys/gals think I should paint my calipers red or yellow? The car Millenium Yellow. Thanks!
MIKE
Good going on the mod, I pefer red calipers because they look as if they belong. Of course my car is tourch red... I think red would look good on your car. I am sure some of the guys here has some pictures of both. Good luck

I plan on doing my calipers yellow with black letters on my 2003 MY vert. I have a black top and the black insert letters in the back so I want to be consistant.

I debated the same for my MY vert. I went with red after I saw a few yellow Vettes with yellow calipers at the CF cruise in. Granted, most everyone had put some miles on their cars, but the yellow calipers showed the brake dust much more.

Welcome to the rest of your life Michael! Let the mods begin!
Do whatever you want to your car ... as long as YOU like it! Do your homework, make a decision, pull the trigger. It's your car. When you die, you're dead for a really long time and you can't take it with you.

I'd like to do that mod to. Did you have to do anything special to keep your shift **** straight?
I put the **** pin back in. I drove the car today. It feels much better. I would still like it shorter. I'm thinking of cutting an inch out the rod and welding it back together. As a ford guy I love working/modding cars. I'm leaning towards the red calipers. Thanks everyone.
