I have recently purchased a 2001 Black coupe. I am very happy with the vehicle. I have one question that I hope someone can straighten out for me. The RPO states that it has DD0 Electrochromic Mirrors - Outside. Are the driver and passenger side outside mirrors suppose to electrochromic (auto dimming)? How can you test to see if it is working properly. I am new to the C5 community and hope someone can help.
the drivers side and the rear view auto dim when the mirror is activated. they are electrochromatic. the view will look shaded automatically when enough light activates it.
I don't have that feature in the Vette, but in my Camry and Jeep, the lights look a little green. Possibly they do in the Vette also so you could tell that way. Also ... the obvious ... vastly decreased glare.

I too think it is only the driver's side and inside rear view mirrors that have the dimming feature. When a car's headlights reflect off the mirrors, the mirrors change to lessen the intensity of the light reflecting back. Looks almost like lights do when coming through tinted windows.
As you're driving turn the mirror on and off (small switch on the rearview). You'll see the difference. As stated, when it's on it has a slight green color to the lights.
So does yours have the passenger side or is it the drivers side only? If this is for the rearview and driver side only, why does the DD0 say mirrors? RPO DD8 is for the rearview mirror.

I converted my inside rear view mirror to the E/C. While driving at night and with lights hitting the sensor on the inside mirror, place your thumb over the sensor and see if the images in the mirrors go from the muted "green" to as if they were during the day.
The sensor inside should control both the inside and the driver's side mirror.
If that is the case, then why are there 2 separate RPOs. DD0 and DD8?
I see, but the DD8 RPO is specifically for the rearview mirrors. Well I guess from everyones comment that the driver side mirrors are not Electrochromic.

We have the electrochromatic mirrors which came as part of the 1SB Preferred Equipment Group (PEG) that we ordered on our '03 vert. The inside review and left (driver's) outside review mirror (as stated on the order form and window sticker) are electrochromatic - the right (passenger's) side outside mirror is not. We also have the build sheet for our car. For RPO DD8, it shows "I/S RV MIR". For RPO DD0, it shows "O/S MIRROR" (which is singular not plural). Hope this helps.
