I tried the advanced search but couldn't find information I was looking for. I know the x-pipe helps with the popping but just how much difference does it make in the sound. I have a set of Ghl bullets ordered and their x-pipe also. I just don't want it to make them to quiet. Some opinions please.
I had a Magnaflow X-pipe on mine to stop the popping on my stock mufflers. Off came the stock and on went the Z06 Ti's. Not a bad sound but too quiet so off came the X-pipe. Darn, the Z06 Ti's sound better on a Z06 than my LS1 so off came the Ti's and on went the Magnaflows. Ah, now we are getting somewhere. A friend of mine put the Magnaflows on with the X-pipe and the volume was lower by 20 maybe 25%. I want to hear a little something with the window rolled down so no X-pipe for me.
To answer your question, YES, your volume will be reduced by about 20%. I always recommend they be used on Corsa Indy's because I have heard them with and without the X-pipe. Corsa's need the X-pipe to stop popping on decelaration and the Indy's are way to loud with one. If you like a high crisp note then the Corsa's are best for you.
My friends Z06 with the GHL's with the X-pipe sounds good especially at idle. At WOT, its a little too crisp for me. Try it without the X-pipe and then add one if it's to loud for you.
I have B&B bullets, Just took the x-pipe back off and replaced with stock h-pipe. I have a sound clip with and without. Don't know how to post it on here. IMO my car was way too quiet with the X-pipe. I only had it on 15 minutes and it changed it too much for me. It was smoother and a bit deeper, but quieter, more muffled and actually resonated a bit more and at a lower RPM. The bullets really are deep and have a raspy growl to them with the stock pipe vs. the x-pipe . If you can help me get the sound clips on here you can judge or I could e-mail them to ya.

The x-pipe gets rid of the dirty sounding crackle and pop on deceleration, and may quiet the exhaust note a small amount, but when you jump on it, you'll still hear it roar
