Default C5 prices??

With my 1996 only having 14k original miles and its like new, would it be better to keep it another 2 years and then when it gets around 30k miles sell it and get into a C5? The prices might go down a liitle more by then and I might as well put a liitle wear on this 96'. Is this a good move??

My 2 cents....on one hand unbelievable low mileage but on the other hand 'it's still a '96'.....both the 96 and the C5 are depreciating as we speak; the newer car depreciates in value a little more per year but the older car is more prone to break down....this is a toss up.....but then if I got a real good price for the 96 I would jump in the wonderful world of CFive....

Saw your earlier post about same topic...Looks to me like you are trying to talk yourself into getting a C5 or your'e looking to justify it.

All I can say is to go straight to the nearest low-mileage/good condition/your favorite color C5 and GET IT!! You will not regret it. The differences between the 2 cars is significant and you'll wonder why you took so long...

C5 prices have held remarkably well in Southern Ohio. Perhaps the C6's have not been out long enough or are not too much of a styling departure.

If I were you I'd go drive some C5s and see how you felt about the change. Assuming you want to get one after that, I'd list the C4 and see what you'd get for it. I've often found that selling is often harder than you think. As for buying the C5, I'd be willing to travel. I've bought a few vehicles out of state and always felt that it was worth it.(Including my new C5) Good luck, Tom

Sounds like you really want a C5, go out and get one, you won't look back.

You probably remember me and my white '96, Darth. I loved that car.....still miss the "cockpit". But this '04 C5 I bought is really something else!

When the man says the "difference is significant", he means significant. I have never looked back, and I'd be willing to bet you won't either.

And you know what?.......C5 drivers DO wave.....I think because they're easier to pick out in a crowd than my old C4 was. The only way you're gonna satisfy that "itch" is to go and out and "scratch it", Darth. Good luck and be sure to show us some pics when you get it.

If you can get a decent price for your '96, sell it and move into a C5. It would be a very good move. If you have not driven a C5, take one for a test drive. It will convince you.

From many of your previous post's, with Red Racer that you appear to be trying to "talk yourself into it" - I can only advise that if you feel good about it do it. A 96 with 14k is almost unheard of. Hell, there are many '04's with more than 14k on them (mine included). Were it me, I would hang onto that C4 and go get a C5..... but that's just me

With 14k miles, he can sell it for enough to get a higher mileage C5...

I sold my 96 GS to move into a 98 vert...never regretted it...

Here's another viewpoint. With as little as you apparently drive your Vettes, why would you want to spend the money for a C5? If you intend to start driving this car, even if only in good weather, then by all means go for it. But if it will just be to sit and look at (and watch it depreciate) what's the point.
The C5 is an awesome sports car, but how will you know if you hardly ever drive it. Just keep the C4 cause it sounds really nice.
Just my .02.

Can't go wrong with a C5. That's the bottom line.

Low miles is a selling point and it adds to your asking price. I would sell it now and get a C5 with low miles. I would buy a used C5 before I would buy a used C6.

My 2 cents.

I kicked around the idea of a C5 for two years. Now I wonder why I waited. Just do it.
PS. I had the same theory as you before. I was looking at 97's and figured in a couple years I could get one at a bargain. Two years later I bought a 99 instead. Go figure.
