I've read a little about this 3M paint protection. Can anyone tell me more about it? Do any of you have it? How much is it ($$$) and where can I have it done? My paint on my 98 is excellent right now and I'd like to keep it that way.
I believe that today, all cars including the vette have clear coat over the paint, right from the factory. Keeping it waxed is probably the best "insurance". I did talk to someone who had the 3M product or a similar product applied. He said he would never do it again, but I did not hear why. Regardless, I would never do it unless there is a way to get it back off in case of needed body work/touch up in the future.

Wow, do I disagree. I LOVE the stuff. Go to www.xpel.com . I did the entire kit myself and recommend it highly. I live on a dirt road and the rocker paint would be blasted clean off if I didn't have it. I'll go find a link to a recent thread that you should get some good info out of. Hang on a minute.

I have xpel and like it. After having my car a month or so and finding a couple of small paint chips, i decided to get it. It was somewhat expensive....i think around 600.00. I think it's worth it. Also, you can remove it if you want without any damage to your paint, but you can't re-use the product.

I’m sure it protects but that’s why I did not go with a 3m permanent film with adhesive. I have heard stories or ruining the clear coat once removed , installers using razor blades to trim plus once its beat up or if you get a deep mark from road wear, its stuck on the paint.. it’s a hassle to remove. For the nose I would rather get a removable bra.
