I know a number of folks have just done the good ole Rustoleum but was interested in opinions on the caliper paint kits from Foliatec or G2. Anyone better than the other?

I just bought the Folia-Tek kit yesterday and I'm working on that along with some wheel well detailing today.
I can tell you that the Folia-Tek comes with a can of brake cleaner and the paint is an enamel with an hardener that you have to mix together. I was also told by Xtreme Motorsports (thanks, Bill!) to paint at 70 degrees or higher if possible. And, to let the painted calipers sit for at least 24 hours before messing with them.
I'll post some pics and give more detailed comments when the project is finished! Hope that helps.....
I originally painted mine with VHT, after a year or so, the finish started to get a little darker and crappy looking. Re-did mine with Plasti-cote caliper paint from Pep Boys very glossy finish, looks as good as the car finish and went on better than VHT.
Never tried the "kits", and overall they are probably better, but for ease of convenience...I sure am happy with the Plast-cote.
I have used both the Folia Tech and the G2 kits and found them to be identical. Both are catalyzed paints, both come with brake cleaner and application brushes, neither covers very well on the first coat, requiring 2 or 3 coats in spots, but they dry rock hard and smooth no matter your skill at painting. Also, when your application is complete, you can take a rag or paper towel soaked in Xylene and carefully wipe off the paint on the raised letters, leaving a perfectly finished piece. Also, with the brush on products, there is little to no masking involved, unlike the spray products. Good luck with your project!

I used Folia Tec from Xtreme Motorsports. Been on there for over three years and still looks great. The epoxy based paint dries very hard and glossy. Does not show any brush marks either.

Well - just finished painting the calipers with the Folia-Tek kit. The paint as BSiegPaint said doesn't cover in one coat - in fact it looks really crappy at first. The instructions tell you paint one thin coat - let sit for 15 minutes and paint the second coat. I painted three coats and now it's starting to dry. The paint dries with NO brush marks to a very shiney finish. I'm gonna let it sit for 24 hours and make sure it's good and dry before I do anything else to it.
My first impression is that the outcome will be outstanding - I'm very pleased. I'll post pics when I'm all done!

I was reading the G2 site and they recommend 5-6 medium coats. The more coats, the more drastic the color change. I'll be doing mine soon as well. I hope yours come out great!

Here are some photos that I just took. Excuse the couple of drips and blobs.....I've got to clean up the calipers before I put everything back together.
One tip - don't bother trying to take the calipers off for the painting, unless you are going to totally remove them from the brakelines. The only way I could figure out how to paint them without making a mess holding them was to put them back on. Mine aren't painted on the back side (oh the horrors! - Fogive me Patches! ) but no one sees that side anyway.....

Those look awesome black I can't wait to do mine Good to know they don't take forever to dry. How's the weather in your area? It's raining buckets here. I tried looking for the rotor painting kit by Duplicolor today ...only one store had it ...red I just want something different. But your's look good I must say

It's been threatening rain all day and finally started about dinner time. The humidity is way up in the 70's which is really high for ARIDzona!
I see I missed a couple of spots - but frankly once the wheels are on and everything is buttoned back up it'll look
I wrestled with color for quite a while, too. I didn't want red 'cause everyone has red. But at the end it was really the best choice for my car - black/black/grey.
I saw your other post with the yellow calipers and the black vinyl - but the truth is on MSG...red will look awesome!
A lot of people use rustoleum. I used the G2, it dried rock hard. A very good product IMO, just follow insructions.
I also used the G2. It was a little tricky to put on because it would bubble on the first coat and not cover, but if you go over it a few times and second coat it while it's tacky you'll get good results. It seems very durable and its very hard.
Have used FolioTec and G2 on 3 different cars. Takes a couple of coats, but results are great. Rock hard finish that holds up over the long haul. Would use it again over other products.
I used the caliper painting kit from Duplicolor. It was very easy to use, and only cost about $14. The key is to clean the calipers very well. Then apply the paint evenly with a brush. Don't try to do it all in one or two coats. I used five coats on mine, and waited about an hour between coats. The Yellow I used was a real close match to the Millennium Yellow on my car. When the front calipers are done, just use a razor blade or fine sand paper to sand the paint off of the CORVETTE lettering.
