Is it just me or does anyone else take advanatage of the fact that you own a vette.
For instance today on the way home i saw one of the new Mustangs and thought to myself, "i wonder if those have as much power as some of the magizines are making them out to have."
Well since i was in the vette and not the beater i pulled into the ford dealership and instantly got surrounded by the sharks(salesmen) and told them that i was looking for more of a daily drive so that the vette could be a track only car........a little white lie never hurt anyone right!
So i proceeded to tell them that i wanted to test drive the new Mustang GT and before i could shake a stick one was pulling around from the other side of the building. I gave them my liscense, hopped in and took off with one of the salesmen. I was pretty sure he could tell that i wasn't impressed at all. I felt like i was driving my beater (a civic). The car is insanely week, but its not like i was going to buy it anyway.
Now this kind of service might be nothing new to you older folks but i look like i'm a highschool or early college kid. So making sure i get top service usually isn't on the top of most dealerships priority lists, but pulling in with a fully paid off vette sure seemed to change their attitudes a bit.
Just thought i would share todays adventures with everyone
iI know what you mean... My dd is a neon 110,000miles, and I'm looking for that perfect c5...imagine showing up with this car, no one take me seriously.. on the other hand when the c6 just came out I saw one on a lot and wanted to check it out, so we got out of my friends new esclade, and man, was I swaped by salesmen
No No, the best is when the salesman tries to actually talk vettes with you. Like he knows anything but it has 4 tires.
And your just there trying to get some service work.
I was at a Ford dealer looking at Cobras, they had none at that time...but the sales guy used to work across the street at a Chevy dealer...he knows the C5's were going for $65K on up

Thats why he is selling Fords now. no one who is smart enough to buy a vette isn't dumb enough to pay way over sticker . At least if they stopped by here for 5 minutes
Having the Corvette doesn't hurt however I get more access to test drives due to my employer here in Austin. (one of the major companies based here) I mention who I work for and normally half the sales staff is offering me their first born it seems *grin* Mentioning my employer after driving up in a Corvette just makes it a bit easier. My thought on the matter is how am I going to know what I want to buy next unless I do some serious research on all that's out there?
