Default What kind of battery tender do you use?

I have been starting my Z16 every few weeks, but it is becoming a pain.Should I disconnect the battery or use a mini charger. The car is in an unheated storage area.

You can not go wrong with a VDC electronics Battery Minder
or a Deltran Battery Tender plus. You can put either of these
on and forget about them with no fear of battery damage.

Deltran Battery Tender plus here also.

Unhooking the battery would be cheaper but it will still discharge some.

Deltran Battery Tender Plus. Got one on my Z, motorcycle and old Firebird. Flawless operation and zero problems.

Battery Tender Plus. Get the optional cigarette lighter plug adapter...no need to pop the hood or clamp to batt & ground!

I also use the BT Plus. Question, is anyone else using the lug-ended pigtail (shown in foreground) for a “permanent” connection instead of the clips?

For $10(well + shipping, ok $15), you can get one of these. Perfect for keeping your battery topped up while not being driven

If you want a no hassle unit that really works and a company that stands behind thier product go with a Battery Tender plus.
I have one for my custom Chevy truck, my 50 Merc, my Hot Rod roadster and my Z06. This is the best unit on the market, my son went with one of the cheap units and it over charged and toasted his battery, needless to say he now has a Battery Tender.

I've also been thinking about this unit and had a few questions..

1. Do you use the alligator clips or the pigtail?
2. Do you just leave the battery as is in the car?
3. Do you leave the hood up or connect it and leave the hood just opened enough before it latches closed?
4. Are the cords long enough so the unit can just sit on the floor near the tire?
5. This unit will charge the battery only when needed, correct?
6. Where can this unit be bought? Local auto parts store? Or online only?
7. Do I purchase the 12v or 6v Battery Tender Plus?

Thanks.

I just clip the leads to the battery terminals
Unit just sits on the floor next to the car, plenty of cable
Battery stays in car, hood shut not latched, with the car cover on
Need 12 volt unit
Can be bought on line from many speed parts vendors, Sumitt, Jeg's etc. or Battery Tender. Most off road / motorcycle shops have them.
And it will charge the battery as needed, if fully charged it will go to sleep mode until needed and then reactivate again.

I use one made by Harley Davidson....on my Harley. I just drive the ZO6. Don't forget....in the end, the one with the most toys, wins!
