Default decisions, decisions...decisions.....

I'm new to this forum and glad I found it. I've been reading postings daily and finally worked up the nerve to ask this question. I'm intimidated by what seems to be a truly educated and well versed crowd and don't want to appear like an idiot. :
So here goes:
I have a totally stock 2000 NBM A4 Cpe, 12,000 miles. I have been saving all year and now have about $10,000. Here's my dilemna. Do I buy new wheels and performance upgrades for my Vette or should I look at moving into a newer ( I like the 2003 Anniversary Convertible)?
I love the C5 and want to stay with this model but can't decide where best my money will be spent.
Little demons on my shoulders are arguing back and forth One demon tells me make my 2000 cpe bling bling and the other demon tells me buy a Vette that will hold it's value better and be more unique. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm the type of person that tries to get logical info and then make an emotional decision and hate myself in the end. This way I can blame all of you and look like I actually know what I am talking about.
Chime in, gimme your best shot ......my money is burning a hole in my pocket. God Bless America

Well...

Half the fun is just getting one in your garage...the other half is modding it out.

I would say if your happy with the 00, go nuts and mod like there is no tom.

If you not happy with the 00, get the 03 and start saving

Peace
Willfulone

I totally agree - keep what you've got and put the $10K into upgrades!

Where in Arizona are you hailing from?

Mods are really about adding your own personality to your vette. They will not add value to your car but they certainly can add to your enjoyment and take you on an exciting journey to a new level of performance and uniqueness. Hence, whether you want to mod your 2000 or trade it in and buy an 03' is dependent on you and what your final vision is for the car. Do you want to turn your car into an ongoing project or would you prefer to keep it stock and enjoy it as is?

I get bored with stock and was thinking it's not wise to modify a "specialty" Vette like the Anniversary. Seems our members like to keep them stock

With only 12,000 miles on it, assuming it's in great condition and has been well-maintained, KEEP IT and go crazy with the mods.

Get yourself an Optima Red Top battery, a set of GHL's, a Blackwing, upgrade the stereo, get a couple years worth of NXT or Zaino, some bling bling wheels and tire upgrades, a fancy chrome exhaust plate, S/S bumper inserts, and you'll have something that'll give you even more driving pleasure.

What's that? You have more left over? Then step right up to the plate and get yourself a supercharger. Some of the guys on the forum can tell you all about that one.

Guess I just outlined MY dream list of things I'd like for my car. Have fun!

If you want to keep your car stock for a while, go with the 03, but remember the shale interior, it can be a biatch to keep clean. If I HAD to decide, Keep the 00 and put in a supercharger or heads and cam. Good luck, I wish I had the same dilemma

If I had more money I would help you out but my Mommy said I can't share. She wants me to remain the spoiled rotten brat I have always been.

I would suggest keeping the car. You know the history, you like it and it has low miles...I would say mod it. Put a supercharger on it and new painted hood. You'll love it. There is no other mod that would compare to the supercharger $ for $. Plus the realibility factor for a supercharger is fairly good.

In addition, you have a coupe so effectively you have half a Vert...

All the Best.

If after a year of ownership you now realize that you would really rather have a convertible instead of a coupe or a 6 spd instead of the automatic or prefer the Z06 then I would say get the Vette you really want and go from there. If you are happy with your current car and have no problems then keep it and use the money to do the mods you enjoy. No matter which Vette you choose it seems that you will eventually personalize it anyway. If you change cars just to get one that is a few years newer, then you will loose that extra $10k in depeciation later on down the road plus another $10k in mods. Sounds like you have a great low mileage car in one of the nicest colors. I agree with the others that half the fun is personalizing your car. Everytime you add or change something it's like getting a new car anyway.

They pretty much depreciate at the same rate. All you would be doing is spending money to buy time. Its the same thing, dont forget about the extra sales tax. Add to this the fact that your car only has 12K on it.

Would you rather have a 2000 with a supercharger or a stock 03? Hmmm,

I would advise keeping you 10G as savings or maybe a safe investment. Maybe spend some $ on a few mods to the current vette. Cars are NOT good investments. You have a low milage car that's fun to drive and reliable. Keep you $ for other things that will give you equal pleasure in the future. Just my .02
