Memory Settings
I have read this before on the forum where the memory setting aren't being saved.
Well it has just started to me. I usually drive are in MPH even though I live in Canada and in the HUD I usually have Speedo and Fuel gauge. Now for the past few days when I start the car, my speedo is back to KPH(default for Canadian vettes) and the HUD is Speedo and OIL. It seems that this happen if I don't drive the car for a day. All other setting are fine, my mirrors move and telescopic steering moves to the correct position. It seems to only effect the Instrument cluster and HUD
Your battery is starting to go. When you start the car the voltage is dropping too low and that causes the HUD settings to default. It could also be the cables at the battery-check to see if there is corrosion but my guess is the battery itself if it only does this after sitting for a while. Good luck.

Smashing through the boundaries
Lunacy has found me
Cannot stop the battery
Pounding out aggression
Turns into obsession
Cannot kill the battery
although in the C5's case....it's rather easy to kill it...
"I'm thinking of renaming my 'vette Dory after the fish in Finding Nemo with a 5 second attention span.
It does not seem to be able to remember where it should put the seat when I unlock the car. It's a 2000 MN6 by the way.
Seat coms failure is its favourite error message. Sort of 'can't talk to the seat' 'where is that damn seat' 'I know I left a seat here somewhere' 'Hi I'm Dory, who are you?'
Has anyone come across a loose connection anywhere that could be causing this? It'd be nice to know. Ta."
My last C5 could never remember setting 2, either.
Historic DIC codes indicate that there is a seat position sensor error, so I'm going to live with that.
Battery is a probable cause in many cases, but I know it isn't in mine 'cos the electric thingy is three months old and reading 14.4 volts.
I have to conclude that the memory of the common or garden 'vette is of a short term nature and given to complete loss from time to time!

I agree, battery. Same thing happened to me this year after a couple weeks w/o startup. DIC was funky and had to be re-set until I re-charged the battery. Zuti
