As an FYI, AMSOIL sells a fuel stabilizer, available via the online link to the left under "Fuel additives."
AMSOIL Gasoline Stabilizer keeps fuel from deteriorating during storage. Reduces the oxidation process and prevents varnish and gum build-up in gasoline. These contaminates can clog injectors, stick floats and cause poor engine startup. Allows easier start-ups.
Treat rate is one ounce with every 2.5 gallons of fuel. One bottle treats 40 gallons.
Product Code: AST
Fortunately for me, I've never had to store my cars so I have no first hand experience with this product. Even in the winter, I've been able to run my Vette enough to replace the fuel more often than every couple of months or so.
I know that Stabil keeps gas fresh but does it also keep clean the fuel injectors/engine while storing? With the fuel injector problems here in Wisconsin(bad gas), letting the vette sit over the winter concerns me. Here in Wisconsin we have had reports of numerous GM/Honda injector problems arising from potentially bad injector failures due to low levels of detergents in the fuel. Can injectors clog by sittting over a period of time? Maybe stupid questions, but I love my 04 Z06...
You can Find time to start the car up every now and then, this will help as well...let it run for a while, give it some revs.....I Started mine up today after over a month, fired right up. It's also a fluke 55 degrees here in Chicago Going into January!
