Default Lowering and alignment issues

Does lowering your Vette require an alignment afterwards? And I was also wondering if lowering it using the factory bolts causes to many clearance issues? I noticed the new Vettes (C-6) has less fender weld clearance and looks awesome.

Although not out real bad, mine was out some. Drive the car 200-300 miles before alignment to insure settling.

Hi Dave -

Most folks agree that is it worth the money to have the alignment checked after lowering to factory limits.

best regards -

The act of lowering your car will make minor changes to your alignment. Lowering the car will increase negative camber, will change the toe setting in the front (goes more toe in I believe) and will have a very minor impact on caster.

I lowered my Z06 just under and inch on the stock bolts without cutting the front bushings and drove it that way for about 18 months. The air scoop under the radiator did scrape on many driveways, but I had no clearance issues with the wheels/tires and the bodywork.

Yes, you should align your car after lowering it on the factory bolts. I lowered mine as much as possible on the factory bolts and didn't align it afterwards. Needless to say, the inside of my front tires wore unevenly and I had to buy new tires sooner then I would have liked. My car does scrap more often in and out of driveways, but the look of the car is more than worth it to me. I highly recommend lowering it.

Just had mine yesterday, love it....I do scrap over some speed bumps and some driveways. WCC informed me that I will have to have it aligned after awhile.
