I just got a quote of $1229 per year with Liberty Mutual for the same coverage as we have with Wawanesa-on the 05 MB CLK-500 and the 04 Z..
This almost $250 a year less...........
Checked on the Company- and Liberty is A+ rated and one of the largest co. around- so I will be switching over from Wawanesa, since renewal comes up in 1.5 months.
Not exactly true in that you will not receive a 100% refund of the remaining (unearned) premium. That only happens when the company cancels you. You will receive a refund but it will be what is called short rated.
It depends on the Company, some policies on say watercraft, are "fully earned", so no refund, others like Progressive, on my watercraft, have a minimum "earn" of 3 months, and the refund I get when I cancel each year after the summer fun ends, is exactly the days that I have not used.
So- yes check with your Co.- since he was with Progressive and my experience on my Progressive watercraft refund was the entire unused portion after 90 days min. - I figure same must be on the car ins.
Most insurance companies will cover you if it is a driving seminar/school. No company will cover wheel to wheel racing
Not true. Some companies have specific language that reads not coverage for track events or no coverage for timed events. This has come about over the last three to four years because of the increase in track events and autocrossing.
State Farm will cover your first loss as they have no exclusion but if your regional underwriter is good they will put you on notice or cancel you. We had a club member hit the wall at one of our events and his State Farm Regional Underwriter happens to also be a member of our club and her suggestion was if you submit we will pay but then cancel you.
I have safeco insurance. I am shocked at how cheap my Z06 is to insure. I just bought a 02 yellow Z06 last Sat. I was nervous when I called to see how much my insurance would go up. I already have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab 4X4 Turbo Cummings Diesel and a 94 Pathfinder. MY insurance only went up $400 for the Z06. I pay a grand total of $880 every 6 months for 3 vehicles. I am only 29 so I look at it as a bargin. My 02 Camaro cost me $900 every 6 months just 2 years ago.

So it varies by company. Check your policy.
I can agree with you on the Timed Events and autocrossing (not to mention warranty issues). As far as what your State farm underwirter told you, I'm sure it applies to their overall claim policies as well with other companies. I have a good friend who had State Farm for ten years with no claims or blemishes on his driving record. His first and only claim with SF was on a Delorean he owned. It was involved in a accident on the interstate with a Semi Truck. He walked away without a scratch but the car was heavily damaged. Instead of a renew policy statement, he received a letter telling him that his policy would not be renewed. Case in point is that regardless of where your car has an accident, Insurance companies are in business to make money and will do whatever it takes to minimize its losses.
If you have a Z06, since it is a limited production vehicle, it will classify for collector's type car insurance as long as you only put about 5k per year. I have gotten quotes for $300 full coverage, but they will NOT cover you at track events.

What Company is this ? And is this for a 6 mo. or a one year policy term ?
I put less than 5000 miles per year on her..........
Been with Wawanesa for 1 year now...just got my renewal today...for my 3 cars it went up $ 250.00....no tickets, no wrecks , no claims. so its $ 2000.00 a year now for 100/300 Bodilt Injury, 100 property damage, comp and coll $ 500 deductible, towing, Uninsured/underinsured motorist 30/60.
The 04 Z06 is $ 831.00 per year
The 03 Suburban is $ 703.00 per year
The 96 Chrysler DD is $ 466.00............same coverages on all 3.
I am going to get a quote from Liberty Mutual again and see what they can do. 10% discount if I hand with Wawanesa 2 more years...may not be worth it if it goes up $ 250 a year.
The best thing to do is to keep checking every year prior to renewal and see who can offer the best deal.
So the 2000 a year I would pay now is 1500 less than if I stayed with State Farm
