Just picked the car up Thursday, 2004, blk/blk, 3800 miles (hooray for me.) Went to change the oil today and found a bunch of little driplets of oil under the car, the front spring is soaked and the engine cradle has some on it as does the underside of the car where it's getting blown back. It'd red and looks like A/T fluid so I'm suspecting it's coming from the oil cooler but I can't find where. Any ideas?
Also I'm think I better check the trans fluid which I'm not sure how to do, the dealer skunked me on the owners manual and I tried a search with no luck.
Hello, I'd love to take it back but they are an hour and a half away and real jerks (long story). I can get it in to a closer dealer for service next week but I thought if it was something easy I'd do it. Plus I should check the trans fluid before driving it any more.
I'd check everything with a fine tooth comb. I know thats easier said than done, but if you just got it home and its leaking that might be the tip of the ice berg. Some dealers are just that, car dealers even if they sell corvettes. I've had numerous problems here in GA with the dealer screwing up my car. they don't align it right, put too much or too little oil in it etc.
bottom line up front... check what you know how to do. Call the dealer you bought it from and give him the WTF. I'd suggest to him that he come and flatbed it back to his place and get it repaired or he can speak to your lawyer. Too many poeple try and take advantage of others. Sorry if I sound like a jerk, but I grew tired of being treated like a 28 yro flashy Z06 owner who knew nothing about cars and what should wear out when.
You could also look check with the local vette club in your area, most have one or two mechanics in them.
Looking closer I've found fluid under the throttle solenoid and under that little hose under it. Right behind the power steering tank. I checked that fluid and it looks full and it’s clear, the leaking fluid has a red tint to it. Now I’m more puzzled.
Going back to the selling dealer can’t happen, when I left no one including me was very happy so I wouldn’t trust them at all.

Red fluid is auto transmission fluid but since you don't have an automatic tranny I have to wonder what it is. It may be pwr steering fluid or check to make sure its not coolant. But definatley call them back as said before & let the jerks repair it or have a real vette place look at it first to diagnose it.
Is it radiator coolant? GM color is red. We all know what Trans. fluid smells like so you should be about 99% on that. Z06 right? And a Happy New Year to all as well.

Well I think that the leak may be from the little coolant line under the throttle body, it seems the coolant might have thickened under the heat and ran down and stuck. It has a red color and the hose isn't exactly tight. I"ll have to check further.

Its more than likely not trans fluid since the tranny is in the back and there are no lines going to the front. It could be power steering fluid or coolant. Since it seems to be coming from the throttle body it may be a loose fitting on the throttle body coolant hose.

Is there a TB by-pass? Maybe the line needs to be snugged up. Is there a clamp still in place? Maybe the previous owner installed a TB bypass and didn't tighten the clamps sufficiently. You need to use a very small curved nose or needle nose pliers to get a proper grip.
Good morning,
Hopefullythe problem is solved, the front coolant hose on the bottom of the throttle body was loose, like the clamp barely helped, the other end seemed tight. I put a worm gear clamp on it and hosed everything off so we'll see what happens.
