Why is it that my keyfob is switched to (passive) off but the car still auto opens and locks when I get within or out of proximity. Is there something I have to set on the computer?

i think you can go to the "settings" on your display and turn it off. mine does the same thing, even though i have the passive off on my remote.

Mine has done weird things, too. The key fob switch doesn't seem to do much whether this feature is on or off.
One thing for sure -- do not leave your keys in a 99 C5 and close the doors. The door locks seem to have minds of their own, and in their minds, you are a thief whether you own the car or not!
Thank you GM for complicating our lives,
Jim
PS. My 57 Vette was a simpler car in simpler times. If course, in the rain, the C1 was a death trap. One must take the good with the bad.
Funny because about a month ago (of coarse when I was visiting my sis in DC) the battery on the remote dies and the next day it didn't start. The dealer couldn't find anything wrong with it but the computer registered that the alarm had been triggered. They think that somehow the messed up key made me trip the cut-off on the starter and fuel shut off triggered typically when the alarm goes off.
Does anyone know if there is truth to the theory that if you let it sit for two hours it automatically resets? Because the next day at the dealer it started fine.
