My penny spent...cya!

On a Neon...

EatRice, I was just reporting what Forum member Manike said in this Forum. I have not personally seen his car nor can I comment on the validity of the time taken.

I would suggest that with the cutting, front fender removal etc that would probably be needed, it would "take some time" to get a perfect fit.

I like the look but I prefer to spend my doubloons, sheckles and pieces of eight on "Go" rather than "Show" (except for Rice effects)

To each their own.

I am with Randy 100% on this. I also have been doing research for about 2 years. After seeing them in person it takes away from the car, the quality is not there and its high $$$. You have to "roll your fender" to make it work and on top of that over time it will crack your paint by the rocker the way it closes. I talked to a paint shop that has installed a few kits. Its also becoming to common on cheaper cars, want to do something different do a reverse lambo door.

I'd do something like that as a "last mod" (if there is such a beast) on my C5. After I've already done a new interior, made a whole hell of a lot more power to the wheels, suspension is set up, etc.

Not for me either. I'd use the money for something else.

Not being critical but here,s an issue to consider. How to get the door open if your upside down? It does happen and thoes who escape usually open a door to get out. Safety would be my first priority before considering this mod.

Default Vertical Doors

I have the VERTICAL DOORS brand...
www.verticaldoors.com I have the *heavy duty* hinges. They open OUT about 2 feet..so you can enter or exit *without
lifting the door.* You can make errand calls, with the doors down....
or normal position, or SHOW STOPPER parking with the doors up.
For big guys these are awesome for additional room.

You have to shave 3/8 inch off the outer edge of the door, and 1.5"
off the inner fender wall. Of course you have to remove the headlights, and the fenders for installation. Key..do NOT remove your doors during installation. They fit perfect, they do not leak when going through water..(think hydroplaning)..I hit a lot of rain returning from Laguna SECA ALMS RACE in October. Absolutely no leakage.

You can return to stock anytime you may want to...(not a chance) for me...they cause a lot of excitment. I took not one, but TWO
Celebrity Choice AWARDS at Laguna Seca Corvette Corral.

Mods are great, and I have many. Next mod, in planning stage.
I like having a fast vert, that is heavily modded and WITH the visual excitment..that very few have ventured into as of yet on the WEST COAST. I had the only car with Vertical Doors in October, at that event.
I can post a picture story link, with the hinges at every aspect of the installation.

They weigh 40# for shipping. I have a carbon fiber Motor City Mold hood, so I took off 10#'s plus the hood blanket,(14#'s total) and have LG Motorsports headers that weigh much less than the cast iron OEM equipment. I think I will take the car to a freight scale in the Spring to check the weight.
NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART....after, you read the directions!

This place is about 20 minutes from my house. If the monsoon lets up tomorrow ... I'll be going by there to check them out. I like the fact that you can open the doors and get out without lifting them up. Thanks for the info Karen! BTW, was that your car with the black hood and C5R lights? That looks awesome

Rice....

I dont like mods that try to make the car something that it's not....in this case euro-trash lambos.

Of course, you can do whatever with your own car, its a free country...but I see these type of mods and just

But on the other hand, they do it all the time on that MTV "Pimp my Ride" show, so you got that working for you

you see this is the kind of close minded thinking that alot of people have. You think its not natural to add mods to your own personalized car, but you accept a major company designing everything for you and the masses without any taste of your very own. If it wasn't for people messing with cars mechanically or cosmetically then we wouldnt' have half the cars and technogly that you see today.
People who do not like changing their car to suit themselves might as well wear a sheeps outfit.
