OK, I went and did the yearly inspection required by law and after the tech finished pulling the engine diagnostic cable my check engine light has come on and won't go away. Can I reset this somehow?

Here in Washington they check the gas cap as part of the test. If they removed your cap during the test, that might be the problem. Take it off and put it back on and drive it for awhile to see if the light goes out. Hope this help's!
