I could be the one who is wrong. I don't use the Competitive Driving mode that often. I do know you can get rid of a current message and display normally by hitting reset. Good excuse to go play with my DIC.
There is also a bypass unit that will put your car in comp driving every time you start it automatically, and the display will clear. I forget which vendor I got it through, but it is a good gadget, since on the 2000 model, at least, you have to be at a standstill to change to comp driving (but not to turn it off, go figure) Very easy to wire in, and also very easy to remove if you don't like it.
Come on, that's got to factor in at least 30-40% of the reason I bought and drive a Vette. Not the irresponsible part, but I uselessly spin my tires often. We all know torque is a natural anti-depressive.

AH is still on when you hit <RESET>. I've confirmed this many times!
But is it still in the "Competitive" mode? There is nothing that tells you that it still is and in my case anyhow, the ability to spin the tires goes away after hitting the "reset" button which leads me to believe that the "Competitive" mode is cancelled but AH in total, is not.

Yes, the car is still in "Competitive Mode" when you press <RESET>....and yes, I can spin my tires to my heart's content. I'm confident on this point. I used to wonder the same thing as you but it's simply not the case.
