Default new guy with a question

Hi, I've got a 96 lt4 with 118,00 miles but when they were taking 10 grand off the c5s, I just couldn't pass it up. So i am now the proud owner of a 04 silver coupe with the mn6. I know that the "coffee can" sound is normal, but mine seems to grind away up to about 10-12 mph before it ceases. Is this normal? I can live with the noise with the clutch out in neutral, but this seems a little much! I love the car, great improvement over the c4...just installed the vararam (4 hrs) and can really feel a difference. Ordered GHL 3 1/2 inch bullets..cant wait for them to arrive... then I'm done with mods!!! (yeah, right!) Thanks for all the good info and advice and I'll join in when I can

I get the same grinding noise in my '04 mn6 unless I use a higher RPM on take-off. I'm relieved to hear that I'm not the only one that has the same noise, but really don't know if it is normal or not

How about some of you veterans out there? Any of youhave the same thing going on?

Welcome to both of you guys! This is the best Forum on the 'Net and you'll soon start finding that you can't stay away.

I've referred a lot of folks, but especially the new guys here to the sticky thread at the top of the C5 Gen page (here's the link to it to make it easy http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=984927) because it answers so many of this trype of question.

Leaftye put the answers so eloquently, it's hard for me to improve on it!

The marbles in the can is normal, but my MN6 stops making noises like that fairly quickly - at least I think it does.....it's hard to hear over the growling Corsas!

I've got nearly 10k miles on mine and I rarely notice it anymore... higher rpm's is the answer though!

Welcome to the forum. And yes it is normal. But over time it does get better. So hang in there. Miles of smiles.

Thanks, I feel a little better about it now. When I get the new exhaust installed maybe the other noise will go away!

Trust me eventually you won't hear it over the noise from the aftermarket exhaust and whine of the supercharger!

Congrats on getting a C5. The sound you describe happens to mine also, but a little extra RPMs makes it go away. Hope you enjoy the car.
