I would like to know if anyone has installed Silverstars on there car, and how difficult it is to change the bulbs. Any pics with them would be very helpful. Thanks, Bud
I have and it's not difficult but there is some awkward reaching around and in, and you must not be hamfisted. The bulbs remove and install with a twist and turn and you have to "feel" it out and in. I have a factory service manual and followed it.
How much are these bulbs? I was thinking about doing it. Is there a certain bulb part number of are they all the same? One set for highs and another set for low?

In the US the bulbs are around $30-$35US a pair.
The number are the same, 9005 and 9006
They are different bulbs for the low and high beams - I can't remember the numbers but they should have a application guide where you get them.
To change them you have to raise the headlights. The safe way to to this is to disconnect the headlight connector (it is just behind the headlight), then use the **** on the back of the headlight motor to raise them up. There is a plastic bezel surrounding the sides and back of the headlight assembly - 3 screws to remove it. Then, as was mentioned above, using your skinniest hand reach in and take out the bulbs - they are a bayonet type of mount, half a twist or so and they come loose.

Advance Auto had a mail in rebate a short while ago. If there is one in your area check them out. I'm thinking they are more like $30 each. The standard part number is followed by an "ST" for the brighter white Silverstars. There is also a "CB" for "Cool Blue".
It's an easy mod and you'll be glad you did it when you are done. Open hood, turn on lights to raise the headlight assy, turn lights to "parking" to turn off the headlights. Remove the black plastic housing around the headlight assy. Be careful when pulling the housing off as there is a snap sort of feature in the front, top center of the housing. It takes a little patience. I think you have to wiggle the lower front side of the housing up before the "clip" thingy will disengage. Bulbs take about a 1/4 of a twist to come out. The harness has a little locking tab on it to keep it secured. I try not to touch the bulb glass while I am removing / installing them.
As long as you are in the area, think about changing the fog lamp bulbs, unless you have PIAA's. I think the normal bulb is 893. I changed to the 899. The are about $8.00. It's a bit brighter. I had to adjust the fog lamps up quite a few turns as they were set low.
I have found that it is VERY helpful to remove the painted headlight cover in addition to the black surround. 2 screws at the back tab plus screws on each side of the cover. Cover screws are #15 torx..........
I changed mine and I do like the SilverStars but a word of caution when putting things back together with your screw driver don't wonder how hard would it be to get the screw driver out of the fender well if it slipped and dropped inside. I had to have my wife come out to the garage and get it out for me my arms would not go that far down

Easy to do following the directions already given - especially if you do not have large hands/arms to try and fit in the headlight assembly. Its a nice mod to do that gives you much better lighting.

There is an access panel under the car. I don't have a wife.
