The trouble might be finding a good run flat installer. Many shops don't install runflats - or if they do, might mess things up (for example, the sensors won't show accurate readings if the stems aren't correctly installed).
I got my last set through a supporting vendor "tirerack.com" over a year and a half ago - prices may have changed since ...
I think the run flats are more expensive than $1000 my non-runflats cost $1150 after all was said and done. And runflats are more expensive. Try www.tirerack.com or www.discounttires.com they have great sites and give you comparison charts and pricing for what ever tire you want. Personally, I went with non-runflats because when I had runflats I got a flat and couldn't find a place that would repair it. So what's the use in having them? I had to buy a plug kit and repair it myself. So when I got new tires I bought GY D3's and love them. Much quieter than runflats and more traction and they look great. Hope that helps. Buy a plug kit and a compressor and your all set to fix a flat. Don't ever use the fix a flat stuff you put into your tires it makes a mess of the tire pressure sensors.

I'm thinking that the runflats will run about $1200 or so for just the tires. Prices for the mount/balance will vary widely. If you went to a Goodyear store, they will charge you a fortune (at least they do around here). You may want to check around on the mount/balance price - just be sure they have the proper equipment so your wheels do not get damaged. You may want to check with the Tire Rack and see what they are selling the EMTs for.
If price is an issue, many members here have bought Kumho, and I'm sure there are a few other choices that don't cost as much as the GY.
Many folks like the Michelin Pilot Sport ZP - but they are a little more costly....
GY Runflats are still a reasonable option. While Kumho, Michlen, Firestone and I suppose a few other companies also offer run-flats, to my knowledge, only GY can be repaired after you run on them with no air. They can also run a lot longer with no air than most of their competitors.
What is the average cost for a set of goodyear run flat tires including mounting and balancing for my 02 and how many miles should I get out of them.
Thanks
Prices quoted are accurate. Try Tirerack.com or any others mentioned. As for treadwear/mileage, that varies greatly from car to car. Depends on what type driving you do. My '99 A4 totally wore a set out at 20,000 city-driven miles (and were never driven hard/spun). My '02 6spd. has highway miles, and the fronts have 30,000 and are still going. I've had 2 sets on the rear, and they've only been good for about 15,000 each (4.10's )
Bought mine online then went to Discount Tire to have them mounted. Charged me $40 each for mounting & balancing. Good job and warranty. But, could have saved by purchasing them from Discount in the 1st place.

I don’t live close to a big metropolitan area so I guess I’m at the mercy of who-ever. I got mine from a GY dealer and they were like $1600 installed. The guy that installed them was very aware of what he was working on and took great care not to damage anything. In fact I stood right by him the whole time!

That's exactly what I was thinking.. Did anyone actually save anything by the time it was all over and done with, drive away...new tires, mounted and balanced, with disposal fee's, shipping.....what is the bottom line?
i think its something your really going to have to research for yourself. on average it is usually cheaper to order from tirerack, and have them mounted, and balanced. but it all depends, prices are going to vary from shop to shop. personally, i couldnt see spending $40 per wheel. but then again it helps to know people in the business
start buy calling around to local tires places. have them give you the estimates over the phone including actual tire prices. then you will know which way to go, and how much you are going to save!
