Default Hypertech programer and C5

I was just watcing Horsepower TV and they made a base line dyno on an o3 Cobra for 364 RWHP. After they used the programer, they picked up 43HP. WOW!!!

They also switched pulleys and made 427RWHP...

How much HP will the programer make on a C5 or a ZO6?

They claim 10-15 rear wheel horse power. It basically bumps your timing up. I have a basically stock 99 w A4 3.15 gears (air box removed). It made a great difference to me. Before it would barely spin the tires from a stop. After hypertech the car would smoke the tires from a standstill all the way through 1st. and pull strong up to the shift point at 6240 rpms. however now my 3rd gear on my tranny is out. I'm not at all blaming hypertech for this. I just think I was having too much fun and let the tranny overheat. I bought a used Hypertech III for $100 through one of the forum members here. I think it was worth it. They are about $330 brand new. I would rather have a dyno tune for the extra $70 over a brand new hypertech. But if you can find a used one for cheap. I think that might be a good deal as long as you have a pretty much stock car. If you have any decent mods, forget the Hypertech

Had one on my 98 TransAm and only gained 3rwhp with it. Waste of money IMO.

Problem is, that the Cobra is a slug. The weight is amazing, and I have heard that even with all of that HP, it isnt as fast as one would think. Good numbers on the HP though. I am impressed!

If it breaks something I am not interested. If I was going to do something like that to my car. It would be going to Lingenfelter. If your going to do it you may as well do it right. But since that's never going to happen. Unless I win the lottery. Need to buy a ticket though. I'll keep my ride stock motor wise. Heck the car does 175 out of the box. Nothing shabby about that.

I bought the Hypertech right after it came out for the C5. Had it on my 97 for a year and a half. I had a dyno run after it had been on the car for 6 months and the peak HP was 298. A year later I had taken it off and ran a completely stock dyno run at 296.
